Talking 50's today but tomorrow looks like rain/snow and cooler temperatures through next weekend. Hope to get the rest of the pin oak split off the truck and stacked in the backyard. I must be getting weak in my old age as I'm have tons of trouble moving this stuff to the splitter. May have to do some more chainsaw work first.
Just enjoying the weather before summer hits. My name is Mike, and I'm a hoarder in Ok. Lopi Endeavor and Republic 1250
Got up to mid-50's before starting to drop, currently 27. Productive day, started with this, and ended up with this. Any guesses?
18/68, shoveled the ashes out and have oak ripping now. Thinking about going out with the Skidsteer to lift up the last 5-6 cottonwood(esque) logs I have piled up before the ground thaws. Someone stacked them in such a way that cutting them is not an easy task… Should be good wood, just need to get it processed before it rots!
-8 Feels close to -20 Taking a peek at the monthly forecast, the whole danged month is mild temps! Begins tomorrow.
32 when I got up. 36 now. Forecasted high was 32 but they may have been off a scoach. It was muddy in the bare spots in the backyard. 3 splits of Ash to kick off the morning. Topping it off with maple.
Not yet, but close. You've had some super cold this winter for sure. I'll bet you are very thankful for that new wood processor.
We are supposed to get down to 7 below tonight and there is some wind. Never got above freezing today, but the sun is now so high that at 24 degrees area that had dark coloring like dirt or paved driveways were melting and the water ran under the trucks and refroze in the daytime.
30 and dropping to the high single digits overnight. Burning up ash tonight, and have some dead locust on deck for the morning.
We are supposed to be minus 4 tonight which means it will likely be minus 10. 15/77 currently. Burning lumber cutoffs currently with black locust on deck for the overnight.
I am getting to the very end of a a stack that is all Red Oak, Apple and Cherry. I was not really wanting to burn that liquid gold in March, when Red Maple and Boxelder would get the job done. But tonight the "A" team gets the call of duty, Apple and Oak have got the job they were meant to do. We will shortly get the 5th season of the year in the north country, yes mud season. For those of you who never had the pleasure of that season, go on you tube. Nothing is as fun as having the road graders and 10 wheel trucks plow the mud so you have 2 or 3 feet banks of mud in your driveway and frontage. Even 4 wheel drives are'nt all that in that mud, if you get in the tire ruts and the guy that made ruts went off of the roads, those ruts will bring you to the same demise. And then you get 4 or 5 vehicles stopped in mud, and they can't get going, it's a muddy mess. The number one rule in deep snow and mud is, just keep going.
12/77 cherry doing the work. Possibly the last fire for the next 2 weeks looking at the forecast. This was a weird winter. Might get a chance to do some syruping yet but I won't hold my breath.
16/68, oak burning. Big full moon all night. Woke up at one point thinking we both forgot to set alarms! Split one tote worth of cotton(esque) wood and stacked it yesterday. It does have a bit of an aroma. Can’t decide if it was unpleasant, but definitely smelly. More than likely it will be the first tote we burn this fall or I’ll process it farther into kindling.
11 and hopefully our last of this low temp as the forecast says warming. May even hit 60 by the weekend...but rain too.
