We had bare ground yesterday until after dark. This is basically what I woke up to this AM.

What's great about the Crest Tavern is that there are enough year-round residents for them to stay open. The place is a little odd in that if you want beers and takeout food, you have to check out at the liquor store counter and then check out again for your food. Whatever. My family owned a house on Topeka Ave for 50 years and The Crest was a 9-minute walk. One of my favorite memories is December 2016; the place had holiday decorations, some good folks at the bar and some of the tastiest wings I've ever had.

Back to the supposed "Blizzard of 2026".....forecasted snow totals are starting to rapidly drop. I'm calling mouse fart on this one......

I've got a 30 mile ride home at 4:30 this afternoon.... We'll see how much of an adventure it becomes. According to weather.com, my whole state was upgraded to a blizzard warning. The local stations are still showing winter storm warning for my area (northern half of the state). The governor declared a state of emergency within the last hour. I was still prepared with extra fuel from the last big storm in case we need the generator, have plenty of food (always do anyway) so I'm not worried at all. I'm going to take tomorrow off work, clear snow, keep the stove fed and hang out with my kids.

The power company is more worried than I am. Then again, they were sued in 2020 for their tropical storm response.

I finally made it back to my wood stacks with my 2-wheel drive tractor yesterday and now this.
I just cracked my second Treehouse brew. :coldone:
Stay safe everyone, I think it will be a major one.

Keep your firewood dry and your beer cold!

Interested to see what our Western NC members get. Was calling for a pretty big snow event there over this weekend.

Truckaa and I, with some friends, cut a winter camping trip to NH short one day.

18"-24" is forecasted for here. No way did we want to drive during/after the storm.

Plenty of firewood, drinks and food. It is what it is.

I’m on the backside of it and we are getting some serious gusts. It was 70 yesterday and dropping into the 20’s tonight. I stocked the house with wood yesterday morning. Good luck to everyone catching the brunt of this with snow and wind.
