Folks, I'm way late to the party on this one. It looks like Woodstock changed the design of the Ideal Steel sled and added a deflector on the underside(?). Does anyone have this sled? I'd be really interested to hear from Ideal Steel owners who had the original sled and then changed to the new one. Feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!!
Heck that is not first design, first design did not have stainless square piece and steel warped over time. When I called for replacement Woodstock shipped me (for free) I think the lip is further modify the smoke path
My Ideal Steel is going on 10 years old and it probably needs a good overhaul. Gaskets, sled, sled rod etc. I'll do it over the summer....
They added the square deflector a couple years in because the cat cover was warping in the middle. I’m not sure if that rectangle piece was part of that, or are you suggesting they added that second, rectangle piece sometime after the square piece (would be the third revision)? I’m still using the original non deflected v 1.0 but it’s pretty warped after 11 winters.
I am saying the one I have has the square piece but not the rectangle piece highlighted by red line. Or if it’s there it is not in stainless. When mine warped 2018 ish, I called customer service because it made bypass lever to engage cat clunky almost getting jammed in mid closing. I asked if I needed to buy a new one or could I just beat piece of steel back into shape. Woodstock just mailed me a new one.
I haven't seen this revision... I had the original and the updated one with some stainless steel. So far the 2nd go around has been fine.
