Not much activity in the wood yard due to the deep snow. Cleared a path to the rack i'm filling and stacked what I split from last month. Still have the limb wood to buck which will top this off and start a fourth. Maybe I'll excavate that tomorrow. Three half cord racks filled plus over a quarter cord of nuggets and some pretty splits put aside for smoker wood bundles makes for around two cords from the score so far. Id like to get another cord but need the snow to melt to go back. Hopefully they haven't bulldozed yet. Any news on that Skier76?
Nice job Brad! No bulldozing yet. Looks like there are still a few more trees left when I drove by the other day. It does look like they have a tub grinder on the other side of the road from where the trees are tipped over. I’ll try and grab a pic next time I drive by. I do make it a point to drive by there every so often. LOL.
Thanks. I didn't know if you took that route often enough to see. Ill email them and ask. Ill assume once the snow is gone. ID like to get another three loads out of there. EDIT: just sent an email. They usually respond in a couple days.
Update: I heard back. Once the snow is gone they will be getting to work on the trees. He did add that they will be pushing over two more rows of trees so if I don't get back I'll have those at least.
Thanks for the heads up. I've been wanting to get back down there for one more load but can't seem to make the time. Hopefully March is less busy and I can commit. With the rate I go through it (cooking fires once a year) 2 full loads for me should last a good 5-6 years, if not more. I still have some apple wood that will be 6 years in the stacks this April
Delivery took me close by so I stopped. The access driveway had been plowed but still 8-10" of snow on the ground. Tub grinder awaits the dry ground.

Snow melted. Hoped they didn't bulldoze yet. They didn't. Ground had firmed up. Bad hair day for this hoarder with a good March wind blowing through the orchard. Lost my cap multiple times. Long afternoon cut yielded a heaping load. The potential mill log I left behind was still there from January. Scooped that up. With rain on Monday and the bulldozer in place I'm headed back tomorrow after I unload.
Another nice heaping load. Good day for it minus the blustery conditions. More pleasant than 92 degrees and 85% humidity anyway. You aren’t wasting any time going right back tomorrow!
Yeah a bad hair day trumps a bad sweat day any day! He did say bulldozing commencing once snow is gone. All my cuts have been way in back by that water tower. Still a row and a half back there. Todays cut was mostly small trees so a lot of cutting to fill the PU. Took my time (at least I thought I did) and a four hour visit. Biggest load of the six I've cut.
Might as well. More work but a decent premium when it sells. (I hope) And as weve said, how often do you get to cut any? You wont burn any as normal firewood?
I have in the past but that was when I had over a cord of it. I think in the winter of 21-22’ I burned an entire face cord. It made good firewood. For the amount of work involved though, I’d rather go after straight grained oak. It processes more easily and stacks a lot better.
