The guy had another load or two like mine but when I left there was a line to get it. My last scrounge was a bunch of maple and the guy is dropping another one this month so hopefully I get the wood again. If not, I'll just keep my eyes and ears open for other loads. It's addictive though..haha.. One thing I've learned is to be prepared so you can be the first one there.

Thats the name of the game. Its fun, I've got my eye on a couple of more, but I need to find/get permission from the right person...

By the size of those, it took some hard work loading and unloading! Sweet!

Rolled them up the ramp from the pile. Rolling them back down as I split and stack them. There is some serious weight there.

I had split and stacked a little but finally got off my butt this morning to put a big dent in it. The stuff that isn't tarped is the oak. Still have to stack everything in the driveway. 1412435640363.jpg 1412435689775.jpg 1412435821156.jpg

While I was out there my neighbor asked me if I could whack part of a maple for him.. Sure. First time I used a bore cut and I'll never go back. Some of the wood from that tree.. 1412455174252.jpg

Nice job. How big was the maple? Was it a whole tree or just a big branch?

x2 on updated pics of the stacks!:ithappened::ithappened:

I applaud you for splitting that by hand. Do you plan to noddle those uglies still on the trailer?

Yeah sort of. The area that oak is stacked is my latest area. I'm going to expand those rocks out another 4 feet for another row. Each row holds almost two cords. Next years project is to build a shed over that area so I can keep going up.

It was split into two about 3 feet off the ground. I whacked the leaner off and now it looks a lot better.

It's cold here tonight so rather than turn on the heat, I figured we'd heat the house for the first time with the stove. We fired it up the day it was installed to cure the paint but this is the first time we're using it for heat. This 3 year wood is cranking the heat.. love it.. 1412471882912.jpg

Lol.. Nope.. Gonna noodle them. Already tried that with a few and what's left of them is noodle material as well. Not worth the effort to me..
