Round here UPS is the new DHL it seems. They transfer their packages to USPS for final delivery.

The last two packages from UPS have been delivered by USPS. Best guess is UPS doesn't have a driver for this route?

About 10 yrs ago UPS couldn't be beat and if shipped FedEx the box was almost guaranteed to have a hole in it. USPS has never been good here.

Went grocery shopping at the local Meijer (multi state grocery store in the Midwest) this evening. Big city vibes. On my way up to the door there's 2 cops walking up from the left. On the right is a person in reg street clothes pointing at a couple pushing a cart across the parking lot. I get inside, get my cart and in come all 4 headed toward the back of the store.

Our mail gets delivered to a pod of mailboxes two miles away. There are 20 mailboxes and two larger lockers for packages (about 12"x12"x14"). The mailboxes get broken into regularly. The carrier seems to deliver packages once a week and if the lockers are full you get a pick up slip. You also get a pickup slip on the other days the carrier doesn't feel like delivering packages. The Post Office opens at 9am and it is 30min away in the opposite direction from work. I hate getting anything via USPS.

I've seen those in the lake hill communities around here. Some gated subdivisions too. Never really put much thought into cause y'all are spoiled anyway. ;)

All joking aside, sounds like a pain.

Your pickup slip sounds similar to when I get one. Just that my post office is only 5 min in the opposite direction of work that's 20 min away. They open at 9 and close at 5 making it impossible to pickup if you work a full time job. Yet another penalty for actually trying. Seems not much is set up for the convenience of the working person.

    This is unreal....

Mitch (AKA youtube's detail geek) took on this truck when the dealership wouldn't. I would have told them to send it to the crusher.

2015 sierra seems to have been treated like a dumpster for it's whole life. Just look in the bed. It's literally full to the top with beer cans, oil bottles, and other trash. Never mind the cab.

He's done some nasty rigs, but this might just take the cake. Maybe along with the sex worker's car that contained outright biohazards.

Yup! Looks exactly like you would see in a subdivision, but it's out in the middle of nowhere.

Would you buy a truck with that many oil bottles in the bed? Gotta be burning or leaking oil. Dealer will polish that turd and either sell it or send it to the auction. Either way someone is going to inherit that problem. The detail geek does get amazing results.

He does a great job, but yeah, I'd never trust that truck.

Being 11 years old, I'd say the dealer will send it to auction, or "as is" for cheap. He's in Canada. I've noticed that you can get financing on some pretty old vehicles in the southern/western states, which I assume is because vehicles hold up more easily there. Normally in Canada you can't get financing on anything over 10 years old, so dealers usually send anything past that to auction. Used car dealers might hang on to a few and sell them as is, cash only.

Hail Mary on our washing machine, drain pump failing. Several modifications and praying, we really need it to work.

Isn't that fairly new? Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I think you remember correctly, seems like yesterday but shopping started late 2018, by Feb 2019 I had here (looking at past posts). The extended Warranty is over :headbang:

Sounds right...this new stuff is crap!
My inlaws built a new house in 2017
IIRC, fridge died at 7 years, and the washer before that even!
They didn't buy cheap stuff either!
I'm rebuilding my 30 yo dryer right now...nothing major though...it's been a pretty decent until all in all!

Planned obsolescence at its best. My old neighbor had a house built in 1999 sold it in 2024. Had furnace replaced 3 times and hot water tank 4 times. Imo should be getting at least 10years out of things like that

With more mild temps here, it's gonna be back to building a fire............letting it go out.......building a fire.....letting it go out.....

Efficient wood furnace, high btu fuel, plentiful insulation......I guess it's a good problem to have.

I did a hydraulic fluid change on the tractor this morning. Two OEM filters and 10 gallons of expensive hydraulic fluid is enough to hurt your wallet. I dropped the fill cap and it might has well have teleported into another dimension. I knew within 5 feet of where it was and it took me a solid 10 minutes to find it...it rolled up against a tread under the tire and was almost invisible. I thought I was seriously loosing my mind.

The last thing I need to do on my equipment maintenance/repair list is replace the seat cushion on the tractor. It has a really nice Grammer air-ride seat but the bottom is cracked pretty bad and has lost all of its squish. I tried a seat cover but it just slid around everywhere and drove me crazy.

After that, I'm 100% done for the year on PMs and repairs...just need to wait around for the next thing to break.

BTDT...I've had that happen enough times now that if I can't come up with the item I automatically start checking under tires...that and boot tread, have had small parts get stepped on and later found stuck on bottom of my boot! :hair:
