All of our snow has melted. I walked my neighbor’s abandoned junk yard today. OH BOY. Found 4 red/black oaks on the ground that came down since November. I reckon this one will provide at least 40 big rounds: She’s a big gal, it goes much further than the pic shows. The other 3 not so many maybe 25-30 rounds out of the others,,
My Amish buddy got high today. They don’t allow pictures so when he wasn’t looking I snapped one all stealth like. So now I have a mess under my yard walnut tree. He was in the air maybe 20 minutes I gave him a $50 and he said “stop that’s enough”. “Twas a nice little haircut. He is a Husky guy and was really impressed with my Stihl 261 with an 18” bar. He called it “snappy”
There is some good firewood in there. The rest I will haul to “my” cemetery burn pile. Am I going to rot in heck cuz I took his picture? Time will tell!
Maybe you will, but not for taking a picture of his back. Heck, there are documentaries of them at barn raisings! The documentary did mention the "picture taking thing" but then added that non of the images were directly upon individuals. I believe that barn is still standing.
Yesterday I walked a different part of the old junkyard. What I found grounded the other day was just a tip of the iceberg. black cherry elm oak and a mother trucking nightmare oak that last pic has death or injury or a destroyed chain wrote all over it I will be careful. I will nibble on each end then roll it off the 3 cars.
Actually I found 2 nightmare oaks! But the second one needs a skid loader/log chain combo to keep me breathing. So I will just walk away. A smart man knows his limitations.
Not sure. I’m in no hurry. It’s not like they are going anywhere! I see several below zero temps here in the two week out forecast so I will be patient. Besides, I got some to work up in my 40.
My plan for a new chainsaw just got put on hold. We just spent 3 days at our up nort cabin and our circa 1994 water heater is leaking. Badly. So instead of a Stihl 400.1 I will be buying a 40 gal power vent water heater. oh well,,
Thank you. I’ll be ok. I do have 4 other saws to play with. I should be thankful that old water heater lasted 30+ years,,
This two year old male Mountain Lion is no longer breathing. He was radio collared in Nebraska 2 years ago and made his way to Weston WI where the pic was taken. He was found dead on railroad tracks about 3 miles from our Adams County WI cabin. He was cut in half by the train. The DNR thinks he may have been shot before the train hit him. The DNR is doing an autopsy on the two halves as we speak
Kinda tragic. Was that your trail cam pic? When I first read this I thought DNR was "do not resuscitate" !
