Yes! So cute :) It was The Wood Wolverine , someone took a picture of him snow blowing and took a strip through his yard for his chickens and they were following him.

Took this pic at the local Shaw's on Tuesday. Their new snow clearing service did a great job and there were no mounds in the middle of the parking lot (as was the case for several big stores when I trekked to the city Wednesday). The snow is at one end of the parking lot, taking out a row of parking that is normally used by big vehicles (RVs, trucks with trailers etc). There are other snow walls along the other perimeters too. But, there is plenty of parking that is cleared - they have more than enough for our small town, and surrounding towns, patrons.

Can't even tell there are businesses back behind that snow wall. And the ground rises 5-7' between them.

Ice isn’t even slippery when is cold; gets slick when it warms up and starts to melt

This ice is ridiculous. Never seen anything like it. Now they are saying 4-7 inches.

If stores are out of rock salt; water softener salt will eat through to bottom on above 20° temps

I was going to say that as well. Fortunately we don't get much snow here.

We ended up with 7"-10" in our area with the top 1" plus of that being a mix of sleet and freezing rain that turned the top bullet proof. Can walk right across the top without falling through. I was busy in the truck plowing driveways. Went 37 hours straight, got about 5 hours of sleep then had to go teach Tuesday morning. Took more plow requests throughout the day and plowed for 7 more hours once school got out.

Thanks, how much would it take for a 600 foot long driveway?

Mines 3 of that.. around 10 40# or 400 pounds
Would be a good start.. you mentioned tractor
I then used Bucket of Bota to back drag and make piles of ice chunks.. I was going backwards with front tires off ground… We had solid 4 -6 inches of ice.. town had a chained up grader doing US highway

    so I made it work..
Water softener salt about 1/2 size thumb so it melt through to bottom and then get ice detached from gravel drive.. making a breakable sheet

Well, we have mostly de iced from last week but still some really slick spots on the secondary roads where there’s shade all day. Calling for anywhere from 4” to 10” of snow beginning ~4AM TOMORROW. Doubtful there will be as much as they’re calling for on the high side. Whatever amount we get will be preferable to the ice we had. Temps will be dropping from low20’s to low teens by Sunday morning. Oddly enough I do have a snow shovel from many years ago, but only use it to shovel off the deck for a path to the firewood rack on the deck:D. If need to go out for anything I will get the tractor out to scape off our lane.

Neighbors probably think I'm nuts. Snowblew the yard to get to wood piles 17698124641124923338664961230709.jpg

A couple of pics from the after effects of Fern. All in I'm at about 8 hours of cleanup and when it warms up a bit I will do some more. It was -2 here this morning.
