Hello just a quick review of the unit.I installed it and began using it winter of 2022 worked good since then amazing how little ash comes out of the fire box.
2025 I started it in early Nov and as of today have not yet taken any ash out of the fire box .
Now the bottom area gets cleaned every few weeks but that is so fine & the heat ex changer tubes are so easy to clean with just a few moves of the handle.
I have been burning a mixture of birch poplar maple & spruce loaded it last night at 6 pm now its 1030 am and still have not put any in so cannot complain since house is set & 74 degrees & last night was -25C

Did you buy a new leftover G200, or get it used?
I only ask as I know the G4000 took it's place in 2020.
Sounds like it's working fantastic for you!

I bought it new during Covide as it is put in my attached garage when we built the new house & since the lumber prices were crazy that never got completed till Sept 2022

G200 is a solid unit. I've been burning mine for a long time and have never emptied ashes from the fire box. I empty the bottom chamber about 2 or 3 times a year.

How often do you clean the chamber were the heat tubes connect to the chimney & have you ever had to replace that motor ?

Original fan motor. I clean the fan chamber once a year. You just reminded me that I haven't done it this year though.

That area seems to cause a bit of trouble on the newer ones...especially if something is off and the unit is not gasifying correctly...

Thanks I was thinking of getting a spare motor just in case but being only my 4th winter was not sure. Yes that area is a pain to clean especially since its in my garage other wise I would use leaf blower even my shop vac makes a dust cloud.

I gave up on trying to get it spotless. I just get the majority out and run it. I think I tried the blower once and it was less than ideal. I might do mine this afternoon if it gets warm enough.

I cleaned mine out. It had quite a bit in the corners like it always does, but I don't see how this could get plugged up. Everything would just fall down the tubes.

Have you ever had to burn out the creosote in the unit?
I seem to always get the side panels out fairly easy in spring when done but getting them back in seems tricky even after pounding them flat again.

The best way to get the panels out, if you need to, is to pull them while the firebox is still warm (creosote still soft) and then leave the panels lay in the firebox until it cools...they won't warp so bad then, although it sounds like yours already are.

I burn a good hot cardboard fire once a week with the panels in.

Not to change the subject but while we are on the subject of gasifiers how are your folks doing with they're G 10000?
