Surprised when I woke up to 5 degrees this morning, but some snow moved in to keep the temp from falling so much. But this is a whole lot better than the -24 we had yesterday. I hope the super cold is done for this year.

9/67. We lost power about an hour ago. Waiting to fire up the generator in case REC gets it back on shortly. Lunch is cooking. Green beans, new potatoes and ham.

I’m at work. It’s 16 and so far we have missed tree damaging ice accumulation. One more round of freezing rain coming through late afternoon. Probably 2-3” of snow sleet combo on the ground. Working on my shovel sharpening skills. Power is still on. Hello hot shower and Tylenol. Looking forward to some NE pictures. Stay safe and warm.

    It's 8° out, feels like -7°

I wanted to go out and at least start the saw and buck the rest of the ash I collected recently, but that temperature outside. That's not my idea of a good time. I tested the weather out by getting the package that was delivered this am at the garage by walking around from the front door. Yeah, I'm not working outside today

I still need to putz with the throttle linkage on the log splitter too. I'm not too worried. It was all dead standing or recently felled ash and I'll get it done at some point this late Winter/ early Spring. It'll all be cut split and dried and ready for next season.
We're gaining daylight already after work so it might happen sooner vs later, but the temperature needs to go up a bit. Single digits are not fun for working outside, and definitely not for working on equipment.

72° inside, burning Box elder over ash coals from last night.

I have some work to do on my saltwater reef aquarium before football games today. I'll deal with nearly 80° water and the tropical reef aquarium over being cold today.

yooperdave I saw -49 on the thermometer early this morning before it got light out. I had fallen asleep in front of the stove drooped over the back of a chair. My wife woke me up and saved me from getting burned and from being more sore than I already was. My back was all red from the heat and I was very woozy.

I went out to get a load of wood and thought it felt real nice! I figured it was 30-40°. I checked the thermometer and it said -49 point something! My body temp was so high I couldn’t feel it. I took the wood in the house and reported my findings to my wife. A cold tile floor and toilet seat removed any residual heat that was left after getting the load of wood.

I woke up today to the sound of a snow plow, . The neighbors must have finally decided to clean the driveway. I will go investigate later and report back.

20/72 more ash cruising along. We've got over a foot of snow and the belt broke on the snowblower %&&--++(#@ I will see if I can get one local tomorrow. The wife did order one for Amazon but it's a few days out. I've done a lot of shoveling, drive twice, back patio where the firewood is and a few spots for the dog.

It has warmed to maybe -15 if I am optimistic.

Not as much of a cold draft in the house. It’s still cold, but a little more manageable.

yooperdave the neighbor did indeed plow the driveway. Their work crews must have been having some trouble getting in and out?? They actually did an ok job and plowed the snow the right direction this time. I do have one small drift not far from the house that is a speed bump, and I will have to remove it with the bobcat. Probably a 5 minute job.

The forecast for next week has me very excited. Ice fishing!!!!

Last load before getting some rack time. 18 & 74. Laundry hanging in front of the stove to dry overnight. Full belly of oak, should be ready for a load and go around 02:30.

Have a good week Hoarders. Stay safe on the commute and especially for those of us that work outside.
