Red Oak that died and most bark is gone. Limb wood is ready to burn in my stove and the big stuff will go to the stacks for the boiler at dad’s. Was 0 degrees this morning but no wind so was pretty comfortable overall. This little switch makes a Big difference (heated grips).
Good find. Gotta love stuff that can go straight into the stove. Dunno if I'd be cutting in those temps though. In the teens here today and not too bad.
Nice haul!! Way to get after it. I agree with Brad. It was about 17-19f here today. Only way I’d have tried was with that switch, and I don’t have one.
Quite a few yrs ago there was a dealer in Ohio (forget his name now) on OPE forum selling some saws at good prices. He had these heated handle Dolmar 5105’s and I jumped on it. Really smooth saw (best anti vibe of any saw I’ve ever used) with good power and the heated grips work well. The Oak is burning well.
Good to see you using the limb wood. I do the same and it is ready to burn as you said. Amazing to me when I see people leaving that in the woods, which most do.
Glad to hear this. When my 501 starts getting tired I have a EA5001 hiding in a box. Went through the trouble of getting a non cat muffler for it also. How warm do they get? Got a 562 G model recently and without gloves you can't hang onto it once it gets going.
Not sure about how warm it gets. Never used the original muffler. I have a gutted dual outlet muffler on it.
Yeah, especially with oak. That limb wood is like a normal size split that you put in your stove. Would you leave splits out in the woods? Not me. If I have gone way out in the woods and gone through all that work its all coming home with me. Too much time and energy to leave on the table. With oak that really translates to heat and sleep at night with no waking up.
