Check the Hyd. fluid and oil levels before firing up that very nice machine.
Then, we need pics of a nice pile of splits next to it.

Ya! With that for a Christmas present I was going to say "You don't have a sister-in-law do ya?", but I'm married!

As far as being big enough, don't know what you're splittin' but... mine goes thru hard oak no prob. Keeping the wedge pointy would help if you have any issues. Doubt if you will.

Only one... when it's making a lot of noise, I notice I sweat a lot... ;):D

Good rigs. Mine has worked fine.

splitoak, I've got a 27 ton unit, and it's only bogged down a couple times in some real big gnarly stuff.
Everything else has split w/o much issue.

Nice. I bought one used a couple of years ago. No problems, LOTS of power for the big and nasties, and mine is noticeably quieter than most splitters I've used/owned.

    Sweet!!! :dex:

That is a great Christmas Present! !

Your Step Father is a class act in my book!

My MTD is the same unit, only it's a 21 ton. Split a bunch of wood and it's split every piece. The crotches and knots will slow it down a little, but I avoid those pieces now. :) .

That will make a nice pile of BTU's for sure. Better start saving for your step dad's present.
