Idk, our 1952 garage will only fit by centimeters in that garage and our newer trucks not at all.

I must not have much to do tonight. Got my first negative comment on my truck today, and I wasted my time educating the bully. Didn't exactly write a novel, mind you, just a few basic facts that'll nonetheless likely go in one ear and out the other [IMG]

Apparently my XLT is a "base model" and I should drive it in the winter (for that reason?).

I'd have bought a base model just as readily. I'm not the "look at my bling bling" type. But, it's not.

Yeah, I'm paying $1,000+ for an extra set of winter tires and getting the truck full of salt and grime when I have a beater sitting in the driveway. Might as well take that offer of $1,000 for my perfectly strong, if cosmetically imperfect, ram at the same time.

I've gotten numerous compliments on my truck from GM people for crying out loud. Not that I bought it to impress anyone else anyway.

Great idea. I never heard of a heat pump water heater.

edit. Ok. So it's electric, but typically using a refrigerator compressor to heat the water, but also an electric heater as a backup/ extra heat source.

    How efficient are they?

When you can get a rheem or similar quality tankless gas water heater for under 700, it's hard to make sense to go any other way. I'd need to run an exhaust for it though.

My first one was a 2006 (bought summer 2010). Fall of 2014 I traded it in for a 2011 model.

The bodyshop told me last Thursday that the super duty would be done yesterday. My buddy works across the street and sent me this picture. I think they lied to me. Resized_1000004394.jpeg

Check if your utility provider (electricity/gas) participates in rebates for heat pump water heater.

The rebate listed for HPWH from efficiency united" is currently at $850. There is also one for high efficiency gas furnaces up to $500. These are through "Efficiency United"...........but these are listed rebates for Michigan customers with participating utility providers.

I don't know if Wisconsin has a efficiency united type program or not but it's sure worth a try! Looks like a watered down version of efficiency united for Wisconsin is called "focus on energy". The rebate amounts sure are a lot smaller.....

Good luck and realize that this is one of the few times that FHC are actually saving you money instead of helping you spend it!!!

Very...knocked $18-20/month off my average electric bill, and that's with having cheap power here!
And, that with going from 2 adults and 2 little kids, to 2 adults and 2 bigger kids, that like to take way too long in the shower/bath!
I do have it locked into heat pump only mode...you can do hybrid, and electric only too. Never really run out of hot water, unless maybe the wife showers last, she likes it very hot! I like warm better...maybe even cool in the summer.
I got it on a good sale at Menards in 2019(?) and paid the extra $70 to have full 10 year warranty. If it craps out at 10 years it will have paid for itself twice.
It keeps us from having to run the dehumidifier in the basement on all but the worst of days in the summer, and like I said before, uses "waste heat" off the Kuuma furnace in the winter.

Yeah it seemed like everyone but us had some rebate available from some entity...bupkus here.
But we have community owned power plant, so that might be part of it...

Yes but supply companies know it.. those HPWH were $2,800 last summer and $850 now for Rheem.
then do you need license to purchase etc etc

They raised prices at supply houses to use 85% of rebates they had to redeem. The models here that qualified for rebates were not open to public they were dealer/bus only BBS figure it out and govt money was sucked up until rebates ended 12/31 prices dropped right after new year go figure. Some of those suppliers statedyou needed master plumber/electrician license to purchase so install was warranted..

I installed my mom's HPWH. It's literally no different than a regular electric water heater.

Not gonna lie, I feel a little dirty right now. For the first time in my life I paid for an oil change. The last oil change on the car was complimentary under the CPO warranty, but now I have to either do it myself or pay for it. If this car wasn't so low to the ground and I didn't have to remove a bunch of covers I'd just do it, but you basically need a lift to work on anything on the bottom of the car. First world problems.

I'm one of those privileged to actually like my job. But there's still occasionally that one person who......
