New front brakes and rotors on the wife's Charger tonight. Just had the wheels powder coated. The powder guy put the lugnuts back on at about 14,000 foot pounds of torque. Had to borrow a wheel lock removal kit and bring out the BFH. But we were successful.. 19dd2b6e-8203-4904-b023-f860b0a87b3c.jpg

Indeed! Spend as much time with them as you can. I wish I could have spent more time with grandchildren. The 2 are now adults.

We had no snow/ice left in the yard after warm days and rain. I asked my wife to clean up dog poop from the fenced yard because we only had Friday before the snow started this am.

She got 1.5 huge bags full. I had enough time when I got home Friday and she was running errands, so I went out and looked to see if there was any left. Yep. It's hard to keep up with when it snows.

I collected another huge bag full. The yard was clean. It's a crappy part of dog ownership, but it's necessary when you have a fenced lawn. I hate running over poop with my truck or tractor, and even worse getting it on your shoe. The pups also deserve to be able to go out and run and play and not step in it.

We had great timing, because there's already about an inch of big fluffy flaked snow on the ground now.

I was hoping that it would stay dry and no snow until later this afternoon. Nope. So instead of splitting and working on the couple loads of wood I brought home during the Christmas break, I'll have to snowblow the driveway. Maybe I'll have a few minutes to run the splitter after the driveway is done and I have some daylight?

That's one of the main reasons we don't have any indoor cat/dogs anymore.
From having an indoor cat before I know that you pretty much can't keep them off of just about any surface in the house, and with randomly digging in the litter box...no thanks.
Dogs, the details are different, but more or less the same deal.
But that's just us...I know many strongly disagree...it certainly is fun having house pets though. Our kids would surely not have a problem with it! :) (daughter does bring an outdoor kitty or two in for a bit sometimes, which is fine, until they start getting in trouble, then it's "hasta la vista baby"...time for "la boot")

Can't tell you how many houses I have been in where the felines are allowed all over counter tops...tables...etc.

My mom is 5'1" and having trouble getting in my ram since her last fall. I told her she has to recover enough to get in the ford by spring.

Well, went out to split some of the wood that I brought home recently. The splitter engine wouldn't start. It have me trouble last time, but it ran. Not great, but it ran. It wouldn't stay. A little starting fluid and it would run, on fluid only.

So I took the bowl bolt off the Tecumseh. Yep. Gunk in the bowl. Then the bowl to carb gasket fell off when I used some carb cleaner to cream the carb a bit. The gasket wouldn't line up. Figured I'd take the carb off and work on it right side up instead of upside down. You have to pull the top cover off, the whole exhaust manifold, and the muffler off to do that. Ok. Did all that. Put it back together, even put the spring back on the governor.

Primed it and it started right up. Let it warm up, turned the choke off, and it ran great. For about 20 logs at least. Then it would run a few seconds, and die, like a fuel delivery issue.

I'll mess with it tomorrow AM. Maybe there's more gunk in the bowl? Maybe the fuel filter is clogged?

    We'll see.

Maybe I'll be swapping it to a horizontal shaft chonda from the vertical shaft 5 HP Tecumseh?

I don't think the swap to a horizontal shaft motor would be that difficult. I think it just needs a pump mount to mount the pump on the engine.

Probably just needs a new carb. They've really become throw aways now. I put a new carb on my generator recently. It's a PITA to get it off and on, but it fired right up.

Might have a bunch of crap in the tank.
I have a brand new unused pump mount bracket I'd make ya a deal on, if it'll work for you.
    I think it's this one

After a 3rd day of warmer weather, I was finally able to beat most of the ice off the driveway and front porch/steps yesterday. Some ice on the driveway was over an inch thick. Started raining last night, but didn't reduce any of the snow in the yard as far as I can tell (it had a crust of ice), although a couple of paths might have gotten a bit wider. I'll be able to tell more once the sun comes up. But, the ground is frozen, so might have to go out take care of more ice on the driveway today - we'll see.

At the very least, I'm hoping to be able to get the last of the front steps cleared (it is under the snow drop zone from the metal roof). Pretty sure I won't be able to clear the drop zone on the driveway since it is always in shade - OTOH, that mound helps keep any of the water coming off the driveway from trying to infiltrate thru the bottom of the garage door. As long as I can get the blower over it, I'm good.

Picture taken about 3 pm yesterday. The snow in those paths is from while I was away during the holidays so I wasn't home to snow blow or shovel.

The pet sitter had cleared most of the snow off this path (although not quite down to the sand on top of the ice that was beneath it). A few days ago I also threw out ashes from the pellet stoves. The clear spot that is closest is at the corner the 3' roof overhang, so doesn't get as much snow, and not much dumpage from the roof.

I am always grateful for the January thaw!

My garage is 24 by 24 and has a workbench. My 2018 F-150 fits with about a foot to spare. The OH door has to be opened to walk behind it.

My F-150 would just barely fit in my garage. The ram would have a little more room.

Between the end of this winter and the start of the next, I'm enlarging it to store the F-150 as well as accept a other vehicle.

Well that would still easily fit two cars.

Full size trucks are another story.
