Well I'll admit it, I havent done a good job keeping up with my wood supply the last 2 years. But all that changed this morning. I received a phone call that I thought was spam but the same # texted me saying he had logs and was in the area. It was a chip drop response to the request I put in a few months ago. It was funny because I was just telling my wife yesterday that I was surprised that I had not heard anything from chip drop yet. Weird timing lol.

So the guy came with a load of fresh cut maple and dropped it. He said he had another tree to take down and could return with another load in the early afternoon but he wasnt sure what kind of tree it was. He sent me a picture and I said sure, bring it.

So here it is, maple and box elder to keep me busy and help restock the racks. Box elder isnt the best but beggars cant be choosers and at least it's not elm! lol And yep, thats right on my front lawn. I miss having the larger property when I was in PA.

Anyone care to guess what the cord total is from this drop? I'll update once I'm done CSS'ing it.

Nice wood get. I’ll guess 1.75 cord.

Awesome looking loads and fast drying. Should help get you in good shape for 2026/27. I had the same problem with slacking off getting wood processed. Sitting good now on premium woods but should season is still a challenge.

Couple nice loads. Wouldn't mind having that dumped in my yard.

    Id say a couple cords.

The stuff I'm burning now is fantastic, it's all 3 year seasoned under cover. Unfortunately I wont have the luxury of waiting 3 years for this new load to dry :( It'll be pressed into service next winter most likely.

I thought the same thing when the truck pulled up. I would love to have one of these as my work truck.

Worry not. Get the maple split and stacked and it dries relatively fast.

Not much experience with box elder myself as I haven't burned it in years. It is nice "free wood" but for my needs, it's not the wood of choice.

With no snow on the ground, it'll serve your needs perfectly. :handshake:

    Congrats!

Both of those dry fast and will easily be ready for next Winter if C/S now. Ive only had BE once and even though it was stacked in a shady area it still dried fast.

Keep working to restock for the three year plan. :tree:We are hoarders after all. :woodsign:

No. I have other options and I’m burning other stuff also. But I want to do some rearranging and need this Holzhouzen gone.
Plus I just can’t stand the thought of pulling wood out of the shed I built. I love looking at it when it’s full, plus I have a photo session planned if’n we ever get a picturesque snow.
So basically my troubles are of my own making

I can relate with my bundle wood shed. Very picturesque filled with wood and its been emptying a lot faster than being refilled. Cold December and a new client have boosted sales. Im WAY behind in restocking it.

How are your bundle sales doing?

Haven’t had to restock any of my customers for quite a while, but that’s understandable given the time of year.
