Thanks! After the thanksgiving storm, we are very glad we didn't lose power too.

Happy new year to you too! :handshake:

A heated garage with running water sure would come in handy, no? (sigh)

I have a heated garage. Don’t have running water in it, but could add easily, since it’s attached to the house. But as you know, when you clean it, as soon as you drive down the road it starts all over again. :picard:Oh well.:)

List starts at $102,950.00 I believe. Starts at...

    2006 Tacoma 2014-12-09 .JPG

I bought my '06 Tacoma, SRT, DCSB, 4WD, w/ 4 Liter V6 in 2014. I had been looking for close to a year for a used Tacoma. I was seeing 19k - 23k for used with well over 100k mileage. I got my '06 with 30k miles, for $21k. It's been paid for, for many years. Here we are 11+ years later and we are just over 100k in mileage. They truck has a new frame under recall with a free rental in 2016. I've had to replace normal wear items. I swore for years that I would never own a foreign built vehicle but The two trucks before this one were both American brands, not made in the US. My wife's Honda Accord was made in Georgia.

Wife wants me to get a new truck. Nothing wrong with the one I have now.

I'd fight like crazy to maintain and keep that truck as long as possible! I am NOT a fan of the newer stuff, with all its "nanny state" crap!
Our newest vehicle is 2017, and I've even thought about getting rid of it for an older model again...if it gives too much trouble with its electronic crap, its gone.
Heck, if I see a really good deal on a nice clean low mileage older model (previous generation) I'd probably pull the trigger.

One bad thing about where we live is gravel roads. We simply can't keep vehicles clean during fall, winter and Spring. At times it gets bad in the summer too.

Just ask the guys who have been here for our GTG's!

Yup, I know there has been some MI sand/mud deposited in a few OH carwash pits, more than a few times!

That mud / dirt that you have on your gravel roads is like cement when it gets on your vehicle after the rain. I waited to wash my truck at home after your last GTG, and that was a mistake. I should have taken it though a car wash before I left Michigan. That stuff dried literally like cement and didn't want to wash off even with a pressure washer.

Husband took my Duramax to a new car wash in town, where they use a pressure wand before the auto wash. They told him no, too much of that cement in the back. More than usual was flying in the air this fall.

I hear ya Sav. Our roads here are all pavement. But my driveways, parking areas, and roads around pastures and camp are gravel and dirt. Tough to keep anything clean for 6 months of the year. End of October through the end April is pretty tough. Oh well. Could be worse. I’m glad we haven’t had to deal with Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, and Wildfires. It is a good area to live as far as Natural Disasters go.

Tractor maintenance day. Changed the fuel filter, engine oil and filter, and front axle fluid.

Next big service is the hydraulic fluid change, but not for another 150 hours.

    Nice truck.

I completely understand your mentality, and if I lived somewhere that had no rust worries, I'd probably find a clean older truck (or invest in a new one that once, either way I'd make sure I loved the truck) and commit to maintaining it till death do us part. But that mentality is hard to put into practice when there's salt everywhere you look, and I couldn't bring myself to drive a classic in the winter. Have to have something newer for a daily driver/winter beater and reserve the oldies for the nicer weather.

I think today’s plan will be an oil change for the generator. Used it for about 12 hours early this week. After that split some wood if I can find some motivation, or work on the cab heater for me Bobcat. I think the blower motor is junk.

True that, on as soon as you clean it. But it sure beats looking at a dirty vehicle. :handshake:
