I now see why the site is called hoarders cause I am totally addicted. My wife asks me how much firewood do we need and I tell her just a little bit more. There is a place about 2 miles from my house where they logged about 100 acres and they left a bunch of logs behind. You can never have too much, right?

My wife quit asking that question years ago. She appreciates the warm house and garage so I think that’s why she doesn’t ask anymore. It also saves tons of money and keeps me out of the house!

Right! Better than money in the bank! With a good reserve of firewood you can heat your home no matter what else happens in the world, even if cash turns out to be useless.

You just found out what I did about a year ago when I joined. Hording is addicting. I thought I had enough for about 4 years. I thought I would only get to hoard what I needed to replenish what I burned each year. But I have now found out after about half way through this, my first year burning, that I will probably go through twice what I was thinking I would. That means come spring I will be building another storage and get to hoard big time this spring again.

I find that as I hoard firewood, I'll never feel like I have enough firewood as long as I have real estate to stack it.

Someone asked my youngest son once what was one of his dad's hobbies. He said ... firewood.

I knew then that my hoard was getting somewhere.

2 miles, get as much as you can. It doesn't get much better than cutting logging tops.

Well, when you can't stay away from the computer or phone to go to FHC every day, you are REALLY hooked and there is NO escaping now!  Also keep in mind there are many kinds of hoarders. I live on about 1/3 of an acre, a neighborhood, and at the most I've had on here at one time was about 12 cord. I usually burn about 3 to 4 cord a year. We also had one winter where I only burn't just about a cord. People lose their minds when they see 12 cord on a neighborhood lot. :jaw::bug:. And, of course I get, "Why do you need so much firewood"? Then you have to explain the three year process :headbang:..... I just hand them a beer :drunk:and say, I'll tell ya later! There are a many GREAT Hoarders on this forum, and the CEO who started it all, Mr. Scotty Overkill . Hoard on and don't stop! It'll keep you out of trouble, or the Bar! :D:cool:

I just might get into this hoarding of firewood. Perhaps a New Years resolution is in order?

Hey neighbor, you fought off the addiction for 4 years...that must be a record...:whistle:...
We don't have a hoarding problem, our problem is finding some place to dump logs and finding time to get it processed...we're still working on logs from Hurricane Helene...and still have some more to haul home...maybe you could go to a GTG sometime and meet some fine FHC folks.
Just a few loads we hauled home from Helene...oak and hickory... 20241011_201557.jpg 20240930_185328.jpg 20241014_185634.jpg
