I've been powering through a "cold". It's probably more than a cold though. Head congestion that will not go away. I'm off work after Friday until the 5th of January. Not much appetite, probably running a fever, but I'm going to be stubborn and not check my temperature when though I have an FDA approved thermometer on my phone. I'm able to drink a bit of Gatorade which is good. I might, just might stop into the nurse's office in the afternoon tomorrow. They'll probably get me on better than OTC crap I've been using.

I've got lots of stuff to do over my Christmas break. So I've been getting a lot of sleep hoping I can kick this crap.

Crazy, they did it, 1/2 the front range. My Mother's life long friend from childhood arrived to visit today, from HI. Not super cold here, hope they're cozy.

Xcel Energy preemptively shut off electricity to approximately 50,000 customers in the Fort Collins area and surrounding regions on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, due to extreme wind conditions that posed a significant wildfire risk. The power shutoff began around 10 a.m. and was implemented to prevent potential sparks from downed or damaged power lines igniting fires amid forecasted wind gusts up to 80 mph and a red flag warning.

    • The decision followed a high-impact wind event forecast by the National Weather Service, with wind gusts expected to reach 70–85 mph in the foothills and mountains, and 50–70 mph in lower elevations, creating critical fire danger.
    • The shutoff affected areas in Boulder, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Larimer, and Weld counties, including Fort Collins, Windsor, Timnath, and other communities.

Getting knocked out can do a number on a person -even "light" concussions can send someone for a loop and have an effect for longer than one would hope for.

I hope the MRI finds that all is relatively good and the neurologist can get her in soon for evaluation.

Kinda like when they accessed everyone's "smart thermostats" and shut off the AC during a heat spell to save electricity, huh?

Except there is no choice this time!

Is there that much of fire danger during the winter?

I can’t see high fire danger with snow on ground:whistle:
My state stops burn permits in snow covered conditions.. Historically snow doesn’t burn well

I'm doing much better this am. It's out of my chest for the most part, and I can breathe through both nostrils this am without any meds after last night's nighttime theraflu wore off. I've just got slight head congestion now. Sudafed and tissues should clear that up.

I hope my wife doesn't get it, but knock on wood she's been clear and I I've had this since Monday evening. She's super religious about washing her hands and everything. I use the Roku app on my phone for a controller and use the TV controller for volume. She's been using the primary Roku remote.

I see several reports mainly in the NW that had wind well over 100 mph!

For us it was 2000. 50" of snow in December. I put a decent amount of miles on the snowmobile I had at home. I remember that we had more snow than the Northwoods of WI did.
