i sent an email asking if the pay cash or check http://newjersey.craigslist.org/grd/4679567044.html Large Oak firewood uncut for sale. Must pickup $20 for each large ring or best offer.
And I thought it was bad when someone near me was asking $75 for a down but un-bucked maple! After the ad was up for a couple of weeks with no takers, he changed it to $50 and added "please don't lowball me."
I couldn't help myself. I emailed them saying Id take it for free, and if they would pay me, I'd feel terrible. Lol!
I'm not sure what they mean by ring either. I was thinking that it meant one of those firewood holders. You are generous. I wouldn't offer them more than a free place to dump it.
Heres my email traffic so far. Getting a bit of a laugh. Its backward so start from bottom of post. I wrote: Well i regret to inform you that what you have is far from firewood, not to mention tree services in your county will deliver rounds like that for free as they have to pay to get rid of them otherwise. You have a cut up tree. That was the easy part. Now those big rounds or "rings" need to be split. Thats work. Then theres stacking, seasoning, transporting. You should be so lucky to get somebody to take them for free. $20 per round is a fair price, if youre paying. wrote: It's firewood for sale I wrote: Oh. You want somebody to clean up your yard and you want them to give you money for letting them take these big rings? wrote: I'm not paying I'm selling I wrote: You sure do got a lot of big rings there. But $20 to remove each ring is a weird way to get rid of wood. How much would you pay me to just take all of it? wrote: July I wrote: Ok. I must credit this thread for helping me figure where to have dinner on our 18th anniversary next weekend. I called up the country club which is up the street from the CL add and they said no problem even though we aren't members.
Hey; As uneducated as this guy is with the price of raw wood, there's someone out there just as uneducated. He may sell 5 or 6 rounds & make some easy money Get that to Alaska, I may buy a few . LOL
As far as jack@$$ Craigslist ads, this one isn't all that bad. I remember some damm fool trying to sell pine rounds for $50.00 each on the basis that they were "perfect for wood carving". Then there was a guy who wanted something like 16 large trees, some overhanging his house, cut down for free. And then there was the ad, oh, never mind. Some people are just plain nuts.
