22 and gusty. Supposed to drop into the teens, so I brought in the emergency sticks of BL. Burning poplar, maple, cherry and oak throughout the day. I also had some pieces that I believe were Hophornbeam.

0f for the start with a high of 23f. Burning locust but will switch back to lower BTU woods tomorrow as 40's for the week. Looking like a brown Christmas again, but I don't mind.

Still below zero here but supposed to be 25 tomorrow. Keeping the stove filled with oak, elm, and other mixed hardwood. I am tempted to go out tomorrow and dice up some doug fir slabs.

I felt it burned pretty good when I took 2 down. I've seen it compared to Ash btu wise but thought that couldn't be. However I was pleasantly suprised and would say it is pretty close. The smell though oh god the smell is terrible when processing it.

We're about 1/3 of the way through a 2 cord stack of ash. Much of this winter's wood is ash & there is more coming. I wonder if this will be the last year of cutting ash?

I was trying to figure put why the house was so cold when it doesn’t get that chilly inside until the temps drop to -40. Yep, sure enough, I forgot to plug the pass-through pipe in the basement wall when we wired the new shed. A 2” pipe just blasting sub zero air right into the house! All fixed now and the house is warming up quickly. Can’t believe I forgot to plug it.

71 in. Wide open drafts to burn down coals this morning before the reload. Oak doing the work. The 2-3” of snow we got isn’t going anywhere with these temps.

It was -10 when I went to bed. I don't know what it was when I got up but I think temps went up a little overnight with south wind.

Right at 0 now. The boiler still had a good bit of yesterday's load of oak and hickory.
