Yea that's where this reserve was, it was on the border of Botswana. Fahad private game reserve is what the name was. Looks like you had a blast, definitely shot a lot of animals. Kudu are so huge, and tasty, and those antlers are incredible.

I hunt. We can bait here...the whole state just had baiting made legal last year.

But no I dont bait. For pics yes but not where I hunt. Back when I hunted more I killed a big buck every year no over bait. In college I use tokill about 5 deer a year.
6-9 years ago I hunted 3-7 days a week from first of october through first week of december usually!

    Sean and wife nice animals!!!

Here are some of my mounts. Can't see the euro mount that well on the brick but its the smallest of the ones seen. The one that scores the highest is the very far shoulder mount. I did the euro mounts myself.

Keep in mind we are way farther south than y'all and our deer dont get the body size and really dont get the antler size either.

The pic of the 2 deer are my oldest ones. The one on right I killed in college over 10 yrs ago and the one on the left I killed at Ft Jackson when i worked there. That deer on the left was 5.5 or 6.5 years old..just dont remember now. Have to look it up or find tje jaw. IMG_20141002_224829_316.jpg IMG_20141002_224842_759.jpg :Yar:

    Cool pics.

What happens to all the animals you harvested? Were you able to eat any of it? I'm guessing it's donated? That's a lot of meat to eat in a few days :)

We ate the meat we could while we were there and the rest is donated. Its amazing how rare good meat is for the locals. We actually had meat stolen right out the cooler while we were in the camp. And poaching is a huge problem at the ranches there as the poor locals will kill anything they can just for the meat.
Yes they are coming out of winter and there is little to no food available for the animals so they will feed until their spring starts and the rain comes back. I know baiting is a big topic here in the US. For states that cant bait its a big issue that they really look down on to those that do. The best quote I've heard on that though is "if you are hunting over a food plot or any crop field you are hunting bait, that's no different then hunting a corn pile or bale of hay".

Bait is a big topic yes. I dont look down on it really. Just have never seen the hay over there. The water tanks or troughs as they say yes. But I have only seen tv hunts. I am from the part of the state where all the idiots know how to do is pile corn out. They also run dogs and kill deer in front of dogs. Some can't even fathom that.

And no I dont hunt food plots either. I have yes bit I dont do it anymore that much. Most of my bait is white oak acorns and does in heat :)

To me it just costs to much to bait. And when I was younger and got off the corn pile is when I started killing bigger deer. At $7/bag that will be eaten in a night or two I can't seriously be pouring corn all over my woods. And this time a year with my white oaks dropping for the next month or so the corn rots...they dont want it!!

Again sean, that is a hunt of your life. I am glad your wife hunts and was able to go with you! I know y'all were ready to get back to see your girls as well. Killing something that big is just crazy to me!!! 200lb is a big deer down here!

We do a lot of baiting up here with corn, honestly I dont shoot many deer over the corn even when putting it out. My main goal with corn is to keep does in the area. If you can accomplish that then you can get a big buck to visit the area in November!

Are you having all of them mounted? How about the meat... must be quite a project to get it all back here. Thx for posting the vid.

Kudu and impala are getting mounted, the zebra and wildebeest we are getting rugs made from them.
We are using a customs broker to handle all the shipping. they take care of the paperwork, shipping, and get everything over to the taxidermist when it arrives.

Meat stays there for the local villagers. Dont think the USDA would like meat being imported unregulated...plus it would be pretty expensive!!
