OK, next time I stop in there and they have an open pallet, I will grab a few bags to try. I was a little concerned because many of the bad reviews I read were from Harman owners. Well, suppose I'll give them a shot and see for myself, thanks Jay.

At the end of the last season, I picked up a few TSC branded bags that actually had Appalachians in them (verified via UPC code). I had burned Appalachians a number of seasons prior (2009 I think) under the real brand bags and they weren't too bad. The ones I got from TSC earlier this year were pretty terrible, though. Not great heat, and WAY too much ash!

    Are these MWP?

The UPC is different than yours Jay?

$209 a ton. My BIL bought a ton of them and sent me the pic. He is getting his Fahrenheit install buttoned up today. We will have 5 or 6 Fahrenheit users. That has to be more than any other forum ;)

Shoulder pellets, at best. Or mix 50/50 with something a little better.

Don't be worrying! All your hair will fall out over nothing! Your delivery is 7 Oct, mine is 1 Nov. ok by me as I play to use small lots I buy and leave the garage stash alone until the shortage is launched. We will find pellets and our stoves will burn anything. I will tell you that this is the first yesr my son laid in some pellets. He got 5 tons of MWP. He has my napoleon that runs good on those. He also has an Englander in the basement.

Really bad pellets, Maybe. But don't think you'd like the results that the anything provides.

I would hope to avoid junk pellets. I keep an eye on all your pellet comments and no way would I buy junk pellets.
Most all the pellet offering here are not that bad, but some are better than others.
What I find so odd is the percent in price difference is not proportionate to the btu difference.
Like up to a third more cost but omly 6 % more BTU's
Some produce much more ash, but I haven't seen my chimney be more dirty. Doesn't take much effort to entry an ash pan.

Over the years, I've burned some pretty bad pellets in my P68. The volume of ash is not the problem for me. The stove has a giant ash pan, as you know, and I don't mind cleaning it out as often as needed (which isn't very often). I also have no problems with ash in the flue, there is rarely any no matter what I burn. It's the *type* of ash that concerns me. If it's the light fluffy kind that comes from La Cretes or North Countries, no problems at all with that - no matter how much there is, it blows out of the pot and the stove just keeps chugging along. If it's the heavy coffee grind kind of ash that remain in the pot, severely affecting the flame if you don't scrape the burnpot every couple hours, then it bothers me, because I'm not always in a position to be able to babysit the stove and make sure the burnpot is cleared.

Driving past TSC on my way home and my pellet piggy radar went off. Pulled in to see what was going on, and it seems they got a few truckloads in today. First, I noticed new pallets of lignetics. Then, I noticed new pallets of a brand I've never seen before - Easy Heat. I did a bit of searching on these and they appear to be a pine pellet that gets horrific reviews. I never met a pine pellet I didn't like, what gives? Then I also see a bunch of new pallets of TSC brand bags labeled 100% hardwood with UPC 013238 000520 on them. These seem to be lignetics too. Inside these bags, I can see the pellets are a fairly dark color. So I grab a few pics and start to head home before it dawns on me that I just saw TSC bags that I could see the pellets through the bag. Apparently they have a new design, where portions of the bag are now clear, when did that happen? They were all still wrapped up tight, so no decent pics yet, but I will grab some next time I go down there.

I'm like a kid in a candy store. My only regret is that there's hardly any room left in my basement. Thinking of trying to sneak in some of the ligs, but it's tough when there's still pallets of those Minute Man softies down there! Decisions decisions...

In early summer, the TSC manager told me that in the wake of the shortage earlier this year, TSC as a company had made a decision to take action to make sure they will always have pellets for their customers going forward. OK, I took that with a grain of salt because there is only so much you can do - so exactly what he meant, I don't know. However based on the continuous supply they have had so far this year, coupled with the reports of shortages already, I'm starting to think he wasn't kidding around. If there are shortages going on, you definitely wouldn't know it at TSC. In addition to the ~200 tons they have out in the yard, they also have a reserve supply of ~100 tons out back behind the building as well.

Yup, those are Lignetics. I have burned a few bags of them already and they burn great.
Did TSC raise the price over there to $250?
