I love the FI 500i. If I was to buy a Husky the 564 would be the one!

    Yes I did say that!

One thing to consider guys... Husky has a much bigger dealer margin than Stihl and dealers have a lot more room to play there. My dealer carries both along with Echo. He can discount a lot more off Husky and Echo than Stihl so don't look too hard at MSRP as a bottom line price. Brad and I might get a deal if we buy 2 as well... LOL...

My local Stihl dealer won't discount anything, but I also don't buy a lot from them. I asked about a discount when I've bought saws in the past and was told "no discount". I'm told there's an Amish run dealership about an hour away that you can haggle with. If I ever buy from Stihl again, I'll probably make the journey up there unless it's something small.

That's one of the reasons I started using a Husqvarna saw. You can buy saws, parts, and accessories online, so dealers are going to be more competitive with their pricing. Was in the Stihl store yesterday, a loop of chain was $40. Bought X-Cut chain from Stahl's a few years ago for $18. I checked this morning, and it's still $18

My nephew bought a new 261CM last year when down by me and our local dealer gave him a little bit of a discount. Also threw in a couple loops of chain for free.

At a dealership I drive by all the time.

I wish I knew they had this going on, I'd bring my 550XP XS to see how it would compare. LOL

I shouldn't have watched that, as now I want one. I need another chainsaw like a hole in the head.

Me and you both. :D Trust me, I've thought about calling Stahl's today now that I know they'll be here in a month or so vs the April date Safford was giving.

I'm a pretty good customer and mine he will deal on Stihl. But as I said earlier, their margin is just too narrow to get much off. When I can get 200 off a Husky saw, it's 75 off a Stihl. (random numbers to make a point...) It's a Stihl deal and not a Stihl dealer deal. Husky gives their dealers more room.

Many do not understand the thin margins that are worked with these days. When I first started my job ( a bit a go) we were the place to come to if you needed a power tool. With the box stores and amazon etc, you're lucky to squeak out 15%, even at high buy-in levels. Amazon constantly is in violation of MAP policies. It's almost not worth the effort at this point and mostly the tools are stocked to just have something to offer our customers. To be at all competitive our margin is just slightly above 10%. Previously 20-25% and no one was offended.

The billionaires (Stihl family) gotta squeak every penny they can out of the lowly peasants!!!
