I've had more than one that we made gills in. They seemed to be a bit toned down compared to others. Of course you can vary their size and how far you open them easily.

Fat fingered my reply sorry all. Waiting on the 400.1 also. What I have found might be one to two years for the US. Local dealer didn’t know anything about it.weird. My :makeitrain"sitting in a hidden spot so I won’t be tempted to spend on the next shiny thing

Was at the local hardware store buying some bolts today on the way out I perused their Stihl aisle. As I was picking up a 362 an employee asked me if I had any questions?
I asked how many more 362’s do you have in inventory out back?
He fumbled on his phone and said “six more”.

I think BBrad nailed it when he said Stihl won’t release the 400.1 until the old 400’s and the 362’s sell out.
This was just a small town rinky dink hardware store yet they had seven 362’s. So it might be awhile is my guess.

So I'm not as concerned about the damage as I am that I do not know when it happened. Brought to work to clean up and discovered a muffler dent. Absolutely no idea how or when. This saw is kept in a plastic carrier mostly. Runs fine. May or may not replace depending how bad it bothers my ocd.

Chud had supplied a link where we could get one from overseas should we lose our patience.

Even I can hardly believe that a second computer saw has joined my pack. Nuttin special. I got a nicer bar coming and it's wearing a shiny new 72lgx loop. Stupid me didn't realize that PHO doesn't include a scabbard. Doh!

Perhaps justified for devirginizing due to temps this weekend? I think so. lol I had to put the bigger spikes on but at least they were included. Fueled and oiled to check function. Lit after 3 pulls.

New bar was waiting for me at home. Finally have a 'checkerboard' after pining for one for a long time. Top quality as expected.

    upload_2025-12-8_6-42-32.png

Only needed two cuts Saturday while fishing. Handles didn't even have time to warm.

    1000003607.png

Looked like an easy twofer even though the poplar might be punky.

    1000003608.png

    Yep.

    1000003609.png

Went back for more easy pickings since the path is now 'open'. Much of this material had been previously trimmed/seperated.

    1000003611.png

    Path getting beat up fast.

    1000003610.png

Went back for one more before deciding that I didn't want to whoop on the path anymore.

When I went back to smooth out all the mud I noticed something...do you see it?

    1000003614.png

    How about now?

    1000003616.png

I found some dry leaf litter and packed him back in. He was burrowed in under the piece of branch I drug out. Marked with a stick so I don't run him over.

    1000003617.png

Nice to be standing on some flat now.

    1000003618.png

The trails really stand out in the snow. This is the path back to the current worksite. There's a down and then another up. Only one struggle spot for the tractor with a hitch on.

    1000003613.png

How I left it hoping it freezes.

    1000003619.png

Log pile grew a bit. More coming.

    1000003612.png

I think we'll get along just fine.

    1000003606.png

I ran the new saw just a little yesterday bucking some small wood up at the woods yard just to get some run time and to finish up what was there. Took the Makita 6100 also for comparison. Pretty close, I will say that.

Oh and I know how I got the muffler dent now. More on that later.

Cool find in the turtle. Years back cutting in my woods I almost stepped on one while cutting. It got covered with sawdust.

Im not liking the mud here either. Almost fell from it on Saturday at my apple cut. Frozen today and tomorrow.

I also spotted a no longer used Box shell while taking a quick tour around yesterday. Laying right in the trail, so something had been carrying it around.

I hope I can get some hard ground next few weeks. I only technically need to work until the 10th due to accrued time off. I brought out what I did in case the ground is not hard, I'll have something to keep me busy for a little bit. If I got good conditions I will continue to bring out more logs. I am considering processing the main chestnut oak stem on site. She's a biggun and I'm not sure I'll gain much dragging it to the yard to process besides a bunch of wiped out water bars from it blowing through them. Will work on the smaller stuff to make some room and see what's what.

We live next to a small river and see turtles on occasion. One time a decent sized snapper strolling through the yard.

Im hoping the weather stays frozen. We had a long extended cold snap last Winter and it was great being able to drive back to the shed to move splits.

Neat find. I've never seen a turtle shell bone before.

I actually have three or four of them now. What's really cool is to take a possum or coon skull and put the turtle shell over it as a 'helmet'. Yes, I am easily entertained.
