26 oak chunks, cherry, red maple Woke up and heard the heat pump running, so I had to spring into action.
24/68 couple pine cones and 2 sticks of kindling to give the coals a boost. Maple and oak going in. oh and more of this...
I reckon we be having a White Christmas. 16” on the ground as we speak and no above freezing temps for 14 days out. I know that can change in a heartbeat tho,,
0/75 It’s cold. Just brought a load of hardwood in. Mixed oak and other high btu species. The chickens started to lay again this week. It’s weird how they lay in the coldest months and take a break all summer.
Stephiedoll , I'm burning a bunch of 5 year dried honey locust. It's really really nice. 4 years it's great, 3 years not enough, but 4+ years is great
Yep, it's good stuff and really wakes the stove up. I still have a stash of hedge and more locust that was split in 2023 so only 2+ years to go, I hope. I should add that it is much harder to keep wood this long since all my storage is now in town/backyard but doing the best that I can.
One of my brothers and my daughter both like goofy “Dad” jokes. I have a feeling there are a few hoarders that do as well.
10f/57f this morning How does one fail to reload when its single digits overnight? Oops. I blamed da wife. The wife blamed me. Doggo was disappointed with the both of us! Hehe. No problem. Easy restart on a fresh load and all is good! Anyone else tired of moving snow? My Polaris rzr has its tongue hanging out from pushing snow. Global warming my azzz.
I’m definitely ready for warm weather. I didn’t used to mind the cold, but now it’s just plain cold that you feel in yer bones. I like a good fire and some warm food. I used to razz about people having houses down south, but now I am talking with my wife about it. Figures. I’m not even 40 yet.
