Local gun range sells 9mm for $250.00 per thousand. All major brands FMJ's. No tax and no delivery fee.

Anyone on here use Target Sports USA for ammo? I've got a bit in the cart, and thinking about joining their membership to save on ammo and the shipping. What I save today is almost half the membership cost, so I could see coming out well ahead in a year...

Well I joined and ordered. We shall see. Got quite a few boxes of 7mm-08 coming for the new incoming toy.

I just called savage to confirm the magazine for my 7-08. Also asked her the torque for the bases. She said 15 in/lbs..... I commented that I thought it would be more than that, and she said nope, 15 in/lbs across the board.

I have a good friend that shoots quite a bit and does most of his own gun work. He has the same rifle in 270, and said he had taken off the bases and cleaned and torqued them back down to a spec higher than that, but one that he had found recommended online / in literature... I cleaned mine the other day and screwed back down using an Allen (not fat wrench), but I imagine I went higher than 15.... I will re-examine, hopefully I didn't hurt anything.

What say yall on the 15 in/lbs for bases?

IIRC, the Ruger Gen 2’s are 18#.
The bases are always significantly less than the rings.

Some folks swear by using locktite on the bases & other manufacturers say no.

I watched a couple vortex etc vids. I put a dab of blue on the bases. They say do not apply to the rings, cause it can act as a lube and lead to overtightening before the torque wrench cam activates. I'm guessing that overtightening the bases isn't as bad as the rings where you can damage the scope. I hope the bases are OK, I'd say I definitely put more than 15 on them the other night w the Allen wrench.

Glad you responded to that, made me remember I hadn't updated. The ammo I ordered from them came in very timely. When I joined, I remembered it saying g something about a career gift", but I usually don't put stock in those comments cause they're usually crap. Well, whe. I opened the box, I thought they has sent me the wrong package, or part of a wrong order. Besides my 7-08, there was a small plastic ammo can. Inside was a Hoppes .44/.45 bore snake, a Blackhawk screw lock carabiner, a 50 rd box of steel cased 9mm, and a few stickers. The ammo can is big enough to hold 8 boxes of 7mm-08, and the bore snake and carabiner are both nice. The steel cased 9 will go in the bottom of the ammo bin for last usage...

Too late to edit the above...

Not 'career gift'...should be free gift. Geez....

Along with several more errors....and I didn't even have a drink. Maybe that was the problem...

Anyone ever use Bullet Scout for ammo purchases? Seems like a decent website.

For factory loaded ammo, I like sgammo.

I just ordered my first suppressor the other day, no idea on how long it will take. I have two Howa rifles that are threaded, I plan to use it on them starting out. One is a 243, the other a 6.5 Creedmoor. Some of the big sellers make the paperwork easy, kinda a process.

Anyone have any experience with carbon fiber barrels ?

    Looking a Bergara with one.

How about thermal scopes ? Looking at an Athlon for a starter.
