After all food Thanksgiving i needed ti get out and try and burn off all the food and over indulgence of molasses cookies. Got a haul of ash and elm and some cedar just cause it was there.
Nice haul! Every load counts and adds up over a while. You should cross-post this in the loaded trucks thread. Loaded truck pics.
I feel guilty if I eat a bunch and don't do any work to earn it. Can be before or after in 24 hour window. lol
Best part of this time of year. Get to cut a ton of wood without sweating and get to justify eating a ton cause you'll work it off
Yea already have. These elms and ash are standing/leaning dead by 5 or more years so really dry. Especially the elm think they died off before the ash. They're hard as a rock and can throw some sparks when cutting. Even splitting them ain't bad for elm
We got dumped on by a snowstorm a few days prior to Thanksgiving. So no firewood making happened for me, plus I went up north deer hunting. I'll get working on felling and bucking shortly. We usually ease into winter here, but mother nature shocked us with cold and a foot of snow in one fell swoop. Good job on getting after firewood work Cavtrooper !
Thanks! We just got some snow this week about 3 inches. Hoping we get more but glad the grounds freezing. Now I can get to some dead by a field without rutting it up.
Here's what I hauled back (3 hours one way) from our annual Thanksgiving family gathering. I get a load every year. 38 of them here. Getting ready to haul them down to the woods to unload them. I originally took these photos to show our ATV riding group, as I recently put the OEM shocks back on and they don't like this work stuff. LOL Back in 2015 I had bought a set of piggyback Fox Podiums for $1,800. I ran them for 8-9 years and put 10K miles on them. Last winter I noticed one of them leaking so I pulled them off and had them all re-built for $200. I decided it would be a great time to sell them seeing they are selling new for WAY more than I paid for them and I will probably be buying a new ATV soon that will then be my play machine. I don't need fancy shocks on a work machine. So I ended up selling them for $1,950. Only costed me $50 to have good shocks for 10K miles.
