Just listened to a radio broadcast here in Wisconsin with author James Card. Seems like his book will go on my Christmas list. Sounds very interesting.
I just bought the book on Amazon. After I read it I will turn it into a FHC traveler. Details to follow,,
The snow here is still coming down and as I walked to the mailbox my estimate is 7” so far. I am going to snowblow here in a bit,,
6" here in Coon Rapids MN getting the blower out around 7am need to drink some coffee first by my fire. I enjoy looking at those nice stacks of wood you have in your Pole Building.
Turned out to be a real nice day today. 31F and not many clouds in the sky. We got a foot of snow yesterday.
This chainsaw book is amazing. He writes of Joseph Cox who patented the modern saw chain. Cox designed his “rakers” after studying pine sawyer beetles with a magnifying glass leaving trails of chips rather than sawdust in their wake. Rakers were the crux of his design and still are today. He stole his idea from a bug! I find this stuff fascinating and can’t put the book down.
One of my new fBook customers called me last night. The guy who couldn’t back up the trailer to save his arse? He gave me a compliment and wants me reserve him 5 face cords for next fall. “My wife says your oak does not bubble steam out the ends like the wood you bought last year” I guess my moisture meter is still accurate. The wood he bought from me was closer to 15 than 20 according to my meter.
