It’s that time of year again. The event is this Thursday 12-4-25. I’m upping my game a bit more this year. Actually quite a bit, but not all of it is firewood related. I’ll be adding two more, but shorter, feed bunk style fire pits. One on either side of the longer and decorative one that I had last year. The new short ones will not have the decorative cut outs. ( not enough time left). Also new this year will be chimney logs in the feed bunks, with packets of colored flames in each chimney. 3 chimney logs in each short bunk and 5 in the longer one. A couple pictures from this afternoon getting ready. Getting some wood split and loaded. Hackberry, cedar, and pine. Using up a bunch of rounds that have been around too long. Some of it is past their prime but it’ll be fine for outdoor fires. Oh….!! And as far as upping my game without firewood. I built a 8x11 structure covered in old corrugated tin that I will be making and selling cotton candy out of. Coleman lanterns for light and heat. not exactly sure how I’m gonna manage making cotton candy and tending all the fires at the same time. But I reckon I’ll figure it out.

Sandhillbilly when they told you 4 years ago "the job is yours" they weren't fooling around were they? Looks like yet another great event this year! It would be nice to experience it in person, with an armful of firewood to help out. Good on you for doing this!
I enjoy seeing this thread every year. Has become a FHC and your hometown tradition. You really have upped your game. Hope youre able to run your booth and man the fires okay. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
Very cool tradition there! I'd love to have something like this in my area with maybe different soup kettles going on the different fires. Like ham-n-bean, stuffed pepper soup, cheddar broccoli, baked tater soup, ham green beans and taters, beef vegetable, pot roast stew.......all of which are fantastic cooked on the wood fire! Looks like a great time my friend!
Ha!!! Not even close, but in a round about way it probably did lead to myTarget rich environment!!! score and has lead to some firewood sales. Mostly it just feels good to be a part of something bigger than myself. I spent quite a few years being apart from everything but myself.
But......If I were you, I would hesitate suggesting this to the event planners as they would just probably put you in charge of this too!
Well done, brother, for all these years. May you be blessed for what you've done. Our little town of about 100 folks will have a Christmas festival this coming Sunday evening. We're going to supply a bit of wood for some firepits as well.
Nope, goats ran off years ago. Will be some shenanigans in Deepstep...old Indian thought the creek was knee deep, but was chest deep...
Supposed to be a bit nippy on Thursday evening. I have been looking forward to hearing when this was going to take place. I was thunking it was usually later in the month. I guess should have looked at your previous years posts for the dates. Unfortunately we already made plans for Thursday. Your community is lucky to have you & your efforts.
