Well, first off, Happy Thanksgiving to all of my FHC family out there! May God Bless you with memories new and old, let's keep those that aren't able to be home for this beloved holiday in our thoughts and prayers today, and also those in our families who are battling illness and/or losses from the past year. My prayers go out to you all.

Let's talked some Turkey Day traditions! One of my traditions that had been held for many years is during off one of my most beloved movies and having a watch....Jeremiah Johnson! I watch it probably 20 times a year, but it hits different on this particular day, and this year, with the recent passing of Robert Redford.

What are some of your traditions on this day of thanks?

Happy thanksgiving Scotty, and FHC brethren!
Not really any one tradition here, other than the usual feasting, watching the Macy's parade, and some football (not me, I couldn't care less...I'll be surfing FHC at this time :))

We have no relatives in the area except one of my nieces who is kinda squirrely and her equally odd boyfriend. We have invited them in the past but they go to his mother's. Everyone else has either died or moved away. So we kinda do what we want at our own pace. We don't do a big feast because we don't need piles of leftovers. Today we are having pork loin.

An afternoon nap is pretty traditional.

Planes, trains, and automobiles make an appearance. IMG_20251013_102953.jpg

Keep the spirit alive though, that's all we can do. I genuinely miss all the Thanksgivings we had at our grandparents houses with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents chatting, laighing, cooking and joking. I took them days for granted in the moment but the memories haunt me. Just the smell of the turkey cooking sure brings those memories back!

    Happy Thanksgiving

I watch a DVD; that’s 19 years old now, my mom had stage 4 cancer and before Chemo and such, she called her big brother and wanted a thanksgiving dinner with the family. As it was her last everyone showed up. Since no ones house would fit 60+ relatives, uncle Steve rented a church.. it was chaos wonderful and the pictures are an amazing memory.

highlight was moms family are hunters; and 5 big male cousins, myself included I am the runt at 6 foot 200#+ are deep frying turkeys in the parking lot.

Tammy Lynne was late (she’s smallest) BUT had a nice 9 pointer on trailer.. it out weighed her by a lot and she couldn’t get help dragging it as everyone was at the church:emb::rofl: :rofl: .. stereotypes smashed.

We watched that last night. We had our friends daughter over at our place last night. She has never seen planes trains and automobiles before. Great movie and she liked it. There's so many great lines that came from that movie.

Happy turkey day everyone! Traditions are family and food of course. Over eating and rooting for the Detroit Lions, then whoever plays against Dallas. I’m so stuffed right now it hurts. :picard:

Happy Thanksgiving !! Just a good meal and desserts, I'm the cook and my wife the baker for holidays. Nap and more snacking and sweets. Then I haul all the Christmas decorations totes up from the shed out back. (I got ahead of the game today and got all the totes up after I stuffed the bird and got Tom in the oven) we did watch Free Willy with our granddaughter. .

Wife and I are spending a quiet Thanksgiving at home this year. We bought a 3lb turkey roast and she is making some stuffing. Loved seeing the Packers beat the Lions today. Wishing all of you a very happy Thanksgiving Day.:handshake:

My wife's side of the family has Thanksgiving breakfast. After that I usually tinker in the shop while she visits. Today I mounted some deer skulls and serviced the log splitter.

Evening is usually food prep for my side of the family and football in the background. My wife baked a pecan pie and a squash pie and I made some bacon onion jam for an appetizer.
