Here in PA, we always had pumpkin pie, and usually a pecan. I didn't try sweet potato pie till last year. I grew a bumper crop and shared with a friend who's wife made one. It was good but no match for pumpkin IMO. My dad makes a killer rhubarb pie. Blackberry and blackberry custard pies are definitely delicious, as is a good shoofly. Scotty Overkill have you ever had one of Rodneys wife's shoofly pies? 10/10!!

That is accurate and yes I have; my beautiful bride mother worked as a dessert chef, so to anyone that hasn’t met me that explains the 20 extra pounds I am carrying around my belt..

My mom used to make mincemeat for my dad, he loved them. I tried it once and never again. My brother also acquired a taste for the mincemeat. And, I have never said no to any other pie

I just checked my grocery list to make sure canned peaches is indeed on it. For cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream  Guessing when husband and kid go shopping on Weds they will also get a frozen lemon merengue and spray whipped cream lol.

Edit, since they will choose the lemon instead, I'm making some creme fresh for myself!

Must have had this thread on my mind when I stopped at our small grocery store on the way home from the doctor. Ended up picking up a fresh strawberry rhubarb pie.

As fate would have it, I've been tasked to get the Thanksgiving pies from Cracker Barrel. No one in the immediate family bakes much anymore. An Apple, Chocolate Pecan and 2 Pumpkin pies. One Pumpkin and the Chocolate pecan stay here. The rest go to my sons house as he's hosting this year. Should be fun.

Home made peach cobbler and home made vanilla ice cream. Wish I could find mom's recipe.

Shaw's has them for $2.49 each. I can store them in the garage for a while. My downfall is I tend to forget about things out there since I don't cook very often. I opt to cook once every couple of weeks and freeze some. Yes, I'm one of those people that can eat the same thing day after day :)

Maybe because the sweet potatoes were skinned, diced and cooked down. The best way to cook sweet taters is with skin on, wrapped in foil and baked until soft. Then slip off the skin and mash up the flesh. The potatoes make their own syrup when cooked with the skin on.

For pie "filling" (I don't usually do crusts since I try to stay away from wheat, and I don't bake), I add cinnamon (the only spice), cream cheese and a bit of maple syrup. Scoop into a bowl and add vanilla yogurt on top. It's great that way either warm or cold. Sometimes I add a bit of cooked and mashed apple.

I may be in the minority but I like mincemeat pie. Guess I grew up with it and must have been an acquired taste
