Thanks! Going for the spring vent :)

Fortunately we don't have critters here, except some mice in the garage since our "barn cat" we took in 2014 passed. (Have a bucket mouse trap now).

That looks like it would really keep out any weather and would be better than the louvered one I have (which is better than the original one that just had a hood that was open al the way to the dryer).

Unfortunately, I think that the outside assembly is too large for my application since my dryer vent goes out one of those basement windows that is only meant to let in a little light.

Keep in mind that any of these "mechanical" dampers will need to be cleaned occasionally...none work right when all bound up with lint!

Spent the day working on the accent wall in our bedroom. We put the thin brick up a while ago. Today i spent about 8 hours filling all the joints with mortar. I used a grout bag. Took a little bit to find the sweet spot of flowable mortar but not too soupy. Actually used a tiny bit of super plasticizer in each batch. Wife loves it but hates the mess we made today. 20251122_204701.jpg

Several days ago I set up one of the humidifiers in the living room as the Rh had gotten down to about 38%. Actually, the one I usually place in the living room had a malfunction so I set up the one that normally goes in the office. The original was about 11 years old, so I feel I got more use out of it than expected. I started looking for the same type but was disappointed that I can't find any that have extended spouts to get the mist high up in the air (while being a tabletop unit). Found this on HD and will hope it doesn't take too much room and works as needed.

The lower Rh was the sign I was waiting for to switch the electric dryer from exhausting outside to inside. I know this can be controversial. My basement is wide open, the air stream points to the opposite end of the basement, and I only do two loads a week (not on same day), so it doesn't oversaturate the air. Also, my front loading washer really gets the clothes pretty dry. The basement can get down to 20% during winter and I'm not setting up a separate humidifier, that I wouldn't remember to refill, when I have a ready made solution in use anyway. Also am not sad that it will route the produced heat back inside instead of wasting it.

Sicker than a dog last few days. Sore throat, masses of congestion and chills and fever the other night. The Wif is about over hers but not before passing the baton to me. Worst part is my CAD program has had a glitch for a couple of weeks so I can't do any drawings for metal cutting. Sitting clicking away at the computer doing drawings is a pretty low impact for a sicky. With the help of tech support should have the problem fixed shortly. I think I'll take a nap by the fire!
