After a search turned up 10 year old thread regarding gas powered models I turn to the brain trust here on FHC for recommendations on today’s battery handhelds.

I have a Husky backpack BT 150 IIRC and it’s been great for the large areas here on our property however, it’s too big and cumbersome for the small jobs or areas (screened porch as an example) or quickly blowing off tractors, mowers and other equipment, etc.

So, I’m asking for some advice from y’all on what you have that’s worked well for you. Light weight is a bit more important than raw power as this blower would be used for brief periods and then hung up for the next small jobs.

    Thanks Much!!

I use the Stihl BGA 86 and like it. IMO it’s perfect for patios and walks. It’s light too.

I have an EGO battery leaf blower to go with my 14" Ego chainsaw, weed eater, hedge trimmer, pole saw and mower. It has plenty of power, a turbo button for more RPMs, and takes any size Ego battery.

And, today, I added an Ego 20" chainsaw to the family. Film at 11...

I also have a backpack blower for large areas and I have the M18 blower for patios etc. It's fine. I suspect any battery blower is going to be fine when used within the bounds of its capability. It's just a brushless motor and a fan. I'd probably go with Ego for my first choice, they seem to hit a good combo of value and quality. BTW careful ordering ego stuff on amazon I got some re-sold starter kit items sold as new which isn't a problem until you have a warranty issue.

Yes, thanks! I meant to include that information. Battery tools are Ryobi and Dewalt. Guess it would make sense to find a blower compatible with my existing tools but I’m not necessarily hung up on that.

I have a Dewalt 20 volt. Owned it a couple years now. Now as powerful as a gas unit, but perfect for quicker small jobs. I owned several of their tools and batteries so why I went with it. My only issue is that a fully charged battery doesnt seem to last that long. Using mostly 5 and 6 amp batteries.

It isn't heavy with a battery IMO.

I also own the weed whacker, pole saw and chain saw, plus several carpentry related tools I use on a regular basis. Keep in mind these are only the 20v versions. I've never used their 60v

I have no experience with the Ryobi, though they seem to be a solid company.

I have the 20 volt blower from Dewalt and I use it all the time. I carry 2 batteries with me and one on the blower and I can get most of what I need done with two batteries. I have mostly the 4 amp batteries. I have 7 Dewalt tools and I haven't had any issues with any of them.

Rumor has it that Santa is bringing me a new 60 volt Dewalt toy to play with. I'm being a good boy! haha:cool:

I got the Stihl AK battery system fsa 57 weed wacker last year, so next for me is the BGA 57 blower. I don't need a crazy powered blower, so this should do the trick.

This should do it for leaves and blowing super light snow off the driveway when a snowblower is too much.

Mine is a 40v Ryobi battery operated blower. I don't recall right off hand what CFM it is, but I didn't go for a really powerful one since it I use it in the yard and it has enough divots and bumps in it from moles/voles/general wear and tear. It probably came in a kit as I got it off FBM and never registered it.

It is pretty close to this one - although older and it looks like they raised the handle so you could get a 6.0 battery in there without smashing fingers. Mine also came with a removeable nozzle that directs the air more along the ground instead of at the ground. If I think of it, I will get the model number and a picture.

All I have is the little 18v milwaukee job. The small one not the big one. It mainly goes to carwash with me to blow water from crevaces and to clean clippings off the mower. Seems to work ok for that stuff.

I run DeWalt cordless, but when we went with cordless weed hacker and blower we went Makita 36-volt (2x18-volt) due to customer reviews. Helped that they had a promo, so we got 2 free batteries plus 2 included with each so the tools were almost free.

I have the Dewalt 54V/60V flexvolt blower. Very powerful. Short battery life. Great for drying the car after washing it.

I have a cheap chinese one I bought on an amazon special. It works fine for blowing off the concrete after mowing and stuff like that, but you wouldn't want to do any serious leaf cleanup with it.

Hey, Thanks All for the response! Unless I hear otherwise I will look towards getting the brand that I already have the most tools and batteries for currently.

That is probably best since you already have batteries. Those seem to be the most expensive thing.

I see that one at Home Depot. Since I have no 40 volt tools or batteries I’m probably looking for something a little less “robust”  Probably one of the 18v models. Also, this blower will get used pretty sparingly. Also want one that’s light enough for my DW to use if she feels the need:whistle:
