Went to the local Tractor Supply and saw bar oil
for $12.99 with second gallon 1/2 off.
When I went to pay the gal rang up $14.99 for each of them.
Apparently they had identical gallons of oil that had two different pricing codes on them.
Being a cheapskate I am glad I caught it before getting home.

I had a similar experience last year. They were out of stock and when it came in the price rang up as normal.

Post any pics of your bar oil hoard here Reloader

Did you get the oil at the lower price? Full price or no oil at all?
I’ve seen similar at TS around here. Don’t even bother getting excited when they have a sale. Either they’ll have none in stock or the sale is over or never was at my particular store. I bought a couple gallons of the cheapest I could find on Amazon. $13 a gallon, seems to work fine, maybe a little thick for cold weather we shall see.

Colchester. a bit far for traveling on the off chance they’ll have some. Though it is right near the dealership where my truck spends many of its days LOL. I usually hit it when picking up that (insert swear word here) :)
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the pricing in TS went up quite a bit over the years and never came down? I’m well aware of prices everywhere,,,,,maybe it’s just me. Used to love roaming that store buying things I never knew I needed :)
I find myself buying more and more on Amazon,,,,,,not happy about it, would rather buy from brick and mortar but the prices are good and they deliver to my door for free. Spending a good deal of time on social media in a state like Ct I find myself really not wanting to go out and mingle with these people I see posting LOL

I know the bar oil was $14.99 gallon not too long ago. Don't buy much of anything there other than bar oil and birdseed. Seems nothing has come down to pre COVID prices anywhere IMO.

I had posted a thread about it a 2-3 years ago when gas prices at the time were starting to spike. Thought maybe bar oil was gonna go way up too.

Yeah I havent seen that price at Colchester for years. Doesn’t mean they haven’t sold it for that I just havent seen it. Some stores sell for X amount, some don’t, some have sales, some don’t. I’ve also noticed when internet checking TS may have a result showing that price but it’s an old result you’re finding and not current. I’ve seen that happen a few times at different stores.
For instance when my mother picked out a new toilet for her new bathroom she bought a 1960’s style wall hung unit. It was designated as a replacement toilet. Problem was you need a cast iron wall hanger for that install and they are rare as hens teeth for 1960’s style wall hung toilets.
Internet search showed one from Lowe’s, exactly what I was looking for, correct bolt hole and waste tube placement. It was a very old search result that was pulled up. Lowe’s hadn’t sold one of those in many years, part number didnt show up in their computers. Long since discontinued but the internet remembers. No one buys these things because a cast iron support rarely breaks and no one but my mother would buy a replacement toilet for a new install.
They were able to find me one tho. I wanted to buy this from a store in case it didnt work, easier return for me IMO. Turned out it was quite a rarity, box had been opened somewhere along the line, installed, removed and returned. Box covered with dust it sat somewhere for a long time but it was all there. Probably the last one in the country :)

Youre not on social media beyond selling firewood as far as I can tell.
I don’t consider FHC social media. More of an internet based brotherhood of the wood. If we get taken over by obese teenagers with purple hair and door knockers on their nose I’ll recalculate my opinion :)
Should I send you a friend request some day? Never bothered because I know you don’t care for FB much,,,,can’t blame ya for that either.

LOL!!! I prefer FHC any day.
Im on FB just selling and looking for either chain saws or free firewood. Sometimes tools. I've never actually talked to anybody on FB other than the above reasons. I've had a few friend requests which I've never accepted.

As just an FYI, Blain’s Farm &Fleet has Mystic bar oil for $6.99/gal right now. They sometimes run free shipping codes with emails, right now it’s $5.99 shipping for orders over $49.
I’ve never set foot in the store, there isn’t one anywhere near here. Just saw a deal once, signed up for the emails, and downloaded the app.

Last year at TS I caught the sale right when it started. I think bar oil was on sale for $7.00 plus I had gift card. Not being greedy I onlt got 10 gallons. While in line some wanna be hipster said something along the lines of it must be special bar oil and who needs that much bar oil. I looked at him and said, who needs a nosey nellie behind them in the checkout lane? But yet here you are.

He tried to apologize and said he was just curious, and I said dude, stay in your own lane.
The young checkout girl burst out laughing.

absolutely, just sent you one. Some Indian guy named Mousher LOL. Long story, I incurred the wrath of the FB police and now must post incognito. Most of my time is spent as an admin on an uncensored page. It’s brutal. If you want an invite to that just holler but I gave you fair warning :)

Kind of a funny story….A number of weeks ago I ordered 6 gal of bar oil from aTSC in MI IIRC @7.99 and picked up at our local TSC thanks to the kind folks here that shared the information and procedures. So our new Rural King opened here a week ago and advertised bar oil at $6.99! Think it will be good for us consumers to have the friendly competition

Long time I took the time to comment.

In Sweden it's common to use the cheapest cooking rapeseed oil. It's cheap and good for the environment. I use it and has done it for 8 year and not going back to anything else.
