Around 800 give or take....16" splits. If I don't have a half cord "measured" stack I'll count the splits and 400 is roughly a half. I've actually counted how many come from a measured half. :loco:  Only an OCD wood hoarder would understand!:picard:

If the customer is standing there gabbin away , I can't keep track . But, when they pay . And go away I can settle into a rhythm.
With 13" splits split kinda small . It's around 1100 splits . :D

I split my bundle wood on the smaller side but still 16" long. I get roughly 175 8x8" size bundles from a cord split that size.

I've never counted splits; just stack them and then burn them.

Funny I did; mostly because of you.. so I could figure out cord; than time to make 1; them figure yearly use to Figure out the 3 year plan.

    Number 750 for me

But at 12 cord year, plan is 36 cord … with kids too young to help with work wife kids life that was numerically impossible in snow for me :sherlock:

Hard to explain that on forum.. Dennis you know me and know the longest hike starts with a single step. easier if you know how many steps journey is. Then math it will take 6 months w/o sleep food etc.. what to do take a bicycle. Ie more insulation, better stove, efficiency better tools etc.:handshake:

That's the reason those pics of "loaded" trucks are never full.

    Never counted
I know how much fits in the skid steer bucket I know what 4 fc looks like in a 7x14 dump trailer and I know what 5fc looks like in the same trailer
There are to many variables to have a set number
Like the splits would have to be all the same diameter and so on

Most definitely not mandatory in any way . I do find it interesting. Just another way to move ahead of the meth and beer money L.Ls.
Yesterday I delivered a cord size load of pole size rounds to a new customer. He was very surprised by the actual volume of a Full cord of wood . I didn't count it . As we were talking. With at least 60% of the load being 5" to 2" diameter . And nothing being over 12" diameter. I know there were around 640 pieces in that cord. Nice wood too . He won't have to split more than 150 rounds in half and only 60 or 70 in forths.

Cant tell you how often I get comments on a half cord when delivered to a new customer. "the other guy was ripping me off" is often heard too.

I've had people come out and try to stop me unloading because they only had enough money for 1 cord. They got mad and confused when I started laughing .
Then I had to got through the whole speel about 128 cubic feet and 185 cubic feet of loose. And how this is a cord. What ever u bought in the past was a rip off .

Yup . I just find it an interesting way to keep my pace up when tired after spending the day in the brush. Some glad morning I will have a dump bed on my truck . Most of the counting will stop then .

So as I was splitting today. For the life of me. I would just lose count. My brain wasn’t built for that. Anyway after filling the tote I counted one side. 120 a side I think:doh: so times that by 6 = 720. After all that extra work I had to call it quits.:startled:
