IMG_0425.jpeg Had a speeco on a partnership. The partner moved 20 miles outta town. We never discussed a buyout clause when I bought in. Now the house is paid for so I got one for myself. It’s almost as satisfying as a full can of dip and a flat of beer!

Congrats on the new splitter. Wanna see lots of pics of it in action.

I've hem and hawed about getting one just for me as I share the gas one I use now.

    Who uses it more?
I’m guessing that I know the answer.

Sweet splitter and I'm sure it will serve you well. Looks about the same as my Country Line 30-ton. I also have a Huskee (Speeco) that I shared with Lefty, my former firewood partner who passed away 2.5 years ago. It was owned jointly even though I paid for it, just made it easier for me if things went bad at some point.

As soon as I read 'flat of beer' I knew you were a Frostback.

For sure a good feeling knowing you're not dependent on anyone to get a lot of splits made.

Edit...seems like something is missing here?

Like a filter maybe? I got one like that too. So far it’s not been an issue. I guess time will tell or it’ll finally eat at me long enough to put one on it.
Nothing is built to last or get repaired anymore!
If’n it starts acting up or quits, chit can it, and we’ll gladly sell you another POS

I can't say it's because of the filter or not but the oil I drained from mine recently was very clean after years of use. Two places dirt could possibly enter system...at the wiper or at the vent. I don't think much 'dirt' can get in the vent beyond some very fine dust particles. If getting by the wiper, wiper needs replaced?

With that big flange, it looks there may be an internal filter, or at least a debris screen. You wouldn't need that big a hole just for fluid return, I wouldn't think.

Yep, I'm sure it has a strainer in there. I only noticed because I saw two bolts there, where there should be six (I'm sure it's 6 because I broke 2 and had to have one removed by a machine shop haha).

Having your own splitter is definitely on the list of items to have.

The owners manual says there’s a filter inside. No instructions on servicing it. Most of the book is devoted to keeping stupid people from getting hurt or killed. Pizzin in our gene pool I suppose. I’ll open it up in the spring and see what’s inside and put a proper spin on if required.

75 years ago a car's manual explained how to adjust the valves. Now they warn you not to drink the coolant.
