We worked on the cemetery clean up Thursday and Friday morning. Hauled 2 loads both days... Thursday... The ash had started putting out sprouts We also found another oak and maple that had blown down, cousin said get it too... Friday loads... The total score from the cemetery...close to 4.5-5 cords It's hard to see the grave depressions in the pictures 3 headstones are visible... The entrance... View from the bottom... My cousin was very pleading with the results and we were very happy with the wood and $$ he gave us.
Another neighbor called yesterday, said she had a hickory tree that blew over during Helene last year. When we got there, it had enough roots still attached that it had put out leaves this year. Then she showed us another hickory the had leaned over from the storm, said we could have it too. We got a little jag of hickory from the 2 trees.
Just so's I get this straight; you're telling us that you put a jag on the trailer and then later you took a jag off? I can see we're going to have a lot of fun with that term.....
Water and Pin Oak are basically the same as far as bark and wood. However, the leaves are distinctly different. This was water oak for sure. Lots of both around here.
That’s the clean up load I would imagine you sometimes run into the same problem I see. Ugly log in your way, would leave it behind if you could but ya gotta move it anyway. Might as well load it. I get quite a bit of that with the winch system. Only way to move a log is pull it closer and rarely does that equate to getting out of my way.
