I have picked rocks out of my grandpas fields in SD. What a chit job. Loading a flatbed trailer with rocks. Wish I had AirPods back then. Some music would have made picking rocks a little better.

I've done it. Definitely a hard, boring, chit job.

Same here, been burned out at work for years, and after Lefty passed the joy of firewood has pretty much left the building/chore. Have about 3/4 cord here at the house that still needs split and a few cuts plus lots of clean-up at his Widow's place that needs done. In addition, I should set her up with a few cords so she can make a few extra dollars and do some much needed maintenance on my old splitter that is still sitting out there. And then there is the need to keep my personal stash here at the house in proper order for future winters.

I do miss the extra cash though.

That’s a very noble thing to do, honoring your late friend by looking after his widow, making sure she’s got some firewood available. The cash comes and goes, but we always make more. I figure I was doing just fine before I got into selling firewood, I’ll be fine after I’m done with it.

The third and final load to the customer that requested 13” splits. Beech, ash, maple, white birch, cherry, and a bunch of red oak chunks to top it off.

Another nice load from Wanderweg's Wood. Hope you charged extra for the custom length. Are the nuggets SS fodder for now?

The customer threw me a nice unexpected tip, which was appreciated.
I’ve got 2 large totes and one plastic trash can full of nuggets to burn now. I’ll probably start mixing them in with my regular stove fodder this week. There’s a lot of nice stuff there to chew through.

Moved the conveyor and set up a couple lights, loaded the dump trailer with 1.05 cord of white oak last night for delivery this evening.

Didn't have time to put the sides on the trailer, had to place it around the edges. 20251024_205026.jpg

2nd cord for a family we know. The son , that does the bulk of the farm work and getting in the winter's wood had a massive injury to his knee and leg early this fall . He's wheel chair bound for the winter and will require more major surgeries.
They needed help and this is a way I can help.
Flat out, it's more of a blessing to us , wife and I . Than it might be to them . Even though it is their primary heat source. It is Soooo nice to be able to truly Help someone that needs and Appreciates the kind of help We can give.
