Great, so I'll be waking up at 11 PM instead of 12 am. And yes, I finally gave up and got out of bed about 12:30 am. I just had things to do before I jumped on the computer. All this week that has been the norm - perhaps it will change back to 1:30-2:30 am by November 2nd.

It's the zephyr train that we'll more than likely be taking.

They are just planning the funeral/ celebration of life.
It would be less time if we would only gas and go, but that's not happening. With hotel/ sleeps, it will be longer by car.

I test drove 3 brand new trucks today.

    f-150 XL RCLB 3.5 eco
    f-150 STX supercrew 2.7 eco

ram tradesman crew cab 3.0 I6

The ram was more of a curiosity thing, to compare to my previous gen ram. I didn't expect it to be a serious competitor to the ford in my mind. and it wasn't.

Anyone here have experience or knowledge with wheel alignment issues? I'm pretty mechanically inclined but looking for some other opinions on my dilemma. I'll have a specialist look at the truck in person, but if I can get a better idea in the meantime, it might be the last straw that sways me into accepting an offer I received if I order a new truck.

I've had my truck two years and change. I've had two alignments done, by two different reputable garages. I'm pretty sure one was done before I got the truck as well.

I'm about to put my fourth new set of tires on. The truck was wearing the fronts on the outside edge, fast enough that the inside of the tire was still nearly new tread depth, but the outside edge was worn close to a coin thickness within a few months. I swap the rear tires onto the front and vice versa, and get another several months out of the set, and then a brand new set of tires is gone before a year is out. After my most recent alignment, the same thing happened, except now the inside edge is wearing instead of the outside.

my bumper is bent a little on one side, so I'm wondering if the truck was in an accident and the frame or something was damaged enough to throw the alignment off. If the body was repaired, then someone did do a good job of matching it. However, the front corner of that fender is now displaying the truck's first notable rust, which I find curious.

If it can't really be fixed, that issue plus the fuel mileage difference would make up for a fairly significant portion of the new truck's cost over time. But it's still a hard pill to swallow, as the saying goes.

It could be frame damage or a simpler problem would be a worn suspension bushing. Sometimes just looking won't catch it. Manipulating the joints with a crowbar might be necessary.

Either the camber or toe adjustments are out.

I would guess they over adjusted hence why it's wearing opposite now. Not many competent alignment techs out there.

Yup, if the tire wear changed from outside to inside, then it's definitely an alignment issue.
And correct on the lack of good alignment guys!

If it were my truck I would find a reputable shop that can do a frame analysis and 4 wheel alignment to rule out a frame issue. If it’s just front end alignment/toe in or out both of your alignment shops are pretty poor. No way tire wear from normal driving should eat up the tires to that extent.
