Went to the in-laws house this weekend, we loaded the bed of the truck with mixed hardwood for them. I really need a dump trailer! They were down a week or so ago and also took a truckload home with them. Their firewood guy disappeared over the summer and didn’t deliver the 4 cord they had ordered. Not Nashville money only because it’s family. IMG_6431.jpeg

Thanks! I’m not a seller to say, I’m taking several cord out of my stash to help them out. I’m several years ahead for us, so it won’t really be missed. I’ll mark a few more trees for the hit list this winter to make it up.

People up here are asking $425-$450 a cord right now. Maybe I’ll have to cut 20 cord or so to help pay for a dump trailer.

First full cord sale of the year :dex:  :makeitrain"
I have no idea how long it will take to load a cord so I scheduled it for 1. I had one drive in and one delivery today. Phew Nashville Hot with the ac on.
The full cord folks are from Temecula Ca so I’m not confident they know how much wood is going to be dumped on them.
I’ll take a pic when I get it filled. Wow my stack is going to shrink.

That's great. It normally took us about 30-45 minutes to load a cord on the dump trailer, at least

I appreciate hearing how everyone does their day to day. I look forward to seeing if I can apply any gleaned gold nugget that may help me out. I seem to need more time in my day. I am always looking for ways to improve my efficiency and workflow. I am looking to be better each day. Keep it coming I appreciate all you share.

Loading by hand is not efficient. Perfect Hickory, White and Red Oak. It took me most of an hour to load.

I hate loading, especially when I have to launch splits over a stack as I cant back right up to a lot of mine.

Do you sell any half cords Jim?

Fortunately I can back up to my stacks, but some are easier to get to.
I sell pickup loads with no claimed amount. The Tacoma stacks out to a little less than 1/3 and the F150 is just under a half. If folks ask I am honest with them and some have measured and know the amount I deliver. It works better for me since I don’t stack measured amounts. My customers know it’s about the quality dried wood.
The one social media site I’m on has a guy selling cords for $100 and another claiming he will beat anyone’s prices, so I gotta sell on quality. Even though when I’m loading I’m thinking Jeff would take this to the deer camp

    Oh deer!  LOL!!!

I don't think anyone can beat the aesthetic appeal of wood from T. Jeff Veal! (i made that up on the fly, unintentionally).:loco:

Some of my splits would classify for the deer camp as well. I'm rather picky about what the final split will look like when I scrounge wood, but some uglies are inevitable.

My regulars know correct volume and DRY. New customers are very pleased and surprised.

If you are just grabbing and chucking into a truck or trailer, it doesn’t take long at all. I’m usually 15-18 minutes for a cord.

May have to quit my firewood hustle if you come into town. $310 a Rick is what I am currently ripping customers off for.

Hey if people with money are willing to spend that, I'd take it too. If it were modest people just trying to stay warm, I'd agree it's ripping people off.
