Been wanting one of these for a long time. Finally broke down and got one. Attached to a scrap 2x10 it worked well for the frequent sharpening I need to do at my "Disney" score/cut. Very handy accessory I highly recommend if you sharpen in the field. Anybody else use one?
I use an Echo one occasionally for touching up in the woods. It has a large plastic thumbscrew to tighten the clamp, but I like the way yours is made with the sliding rod.
I have used a stump vice before. They are handy. Don't have one now. I have a few small "C" clamps around. I think I'll fab a vice up to throw in the chainsaw tool kit! Thanks for the post.
I have one have not used it for years kinda spoiled when you own a chainsaw shop and all woodcutting is done at the same location just switch chains and sharpen later
I got one a few years ago as a Christmas present from my sister. It's a double prong. I have only used mine out in the field. My only issue is finding a good location to put it so I can be comfortable while sharpening.
One reason I never bought one before, but frequent resharpenings at my "Disney" cut gave me the incentive to break down and get one!
Lee Valley tools sells or at least did, a chainsaw sharpening vise. I bought two. I can't find them in their online catalog, now. (Could be user error) They come with a ratchet strap to secure them to a tailgate or a log. I drilled screw holes in one and screwed it to a plank which is usually clamped to a workbench. I think they were $30. I've emailed Lee Valley & if I get a link I'll share it.
Thank you for finding that! Being in the US appears to be the reason I couldn't get there. I tried your link, it works, however it won't let me buy one online. Another tariff tragedy?
Have previously considered one of these. I have one of those nice custom sharpening aids that needs a vise to hold. https://wiltontools.com/5-atv-all-terrain-visetm They also make a 10" riser for it which would position it ok height behind my buggy. They cost a fair amount of clams likely the reason I have not. I think they make a bracket so you can bench mount the vise also.
