Also wanna give a big thanks to my friend. Jason aka (wolverine) for his advice on this tree. It really helped me out, and I appreciate you buddy.
As you can see in the first picture, this was a yard tree. Unfortunately I did find a couple nails, and messed up some chains. This was like the first 6’ up the tree. Hopefully all that is over with.
Nice white oak indeed, and a great herd of workhorses getting it done Awesome assist from The Wood Wolverine as well; he's helped a few of us out quite a bit.
Now that the sawing is done, time to sit back and enjoy this. My wife’s Rottweiler puppy decided to join me. He doesn’t drink, but is good company lol.
More pics to come in the morning fellas. Thats all for today, just sitting back and relaxing for tomorrow.
Awesome job Matt. Hope you don’t get any PI anytime soon! One helluva tree . Couple years that’ll be some dang fine firewood. And your fleet of saws is awesome. That XS2188 eats. Kinda crazy question but is there one that you enjoy a little bit more than the rest?
Well as you know all my saws are ported, so it’s kinda hard. All of them run amazing imo, and I like them all. But ima kinda of a red head guy hahah. I’ve always liked the straight handle, and the way they feel.
Thinking about breaking out my xs 2171 tomorrow. That’s not really broke in yet, maybe two tanks of fuel in it.
Thats a monster. Looks like you had the saw to handle it. Some serious btu's to be had. Will you split the gnarlier pieces or use the saws to make "splits"? When I encounter rounds like that I prefer to noodle them to stove size.
Going to use the saws to rip them Brad. I’ve always had bad experience with those pieces. Seems like my shins, take a beating trying to split those on my splitter.
My home owner riding mower, and my little trailer has held up so far hahah. Right now it’s all I have to work with. Just been taking it slow and easy.
Yeah, hopefully I’ll have it all cut bye this weekend. Then I’ll break out the wood splitter and go to town. I looked out my window this morning while having some coffee. And thought of my dad……..he use to say I’d rather be looking at my firewood, then looking for it.
