Actually. From the results I'm getting. It works every bit as well as store bought bar oil does . Think about it , it's a high temp lubricant. Never was ment to be ingested into the human body. May as well use it for something appropriate.

I know a bunch of fallwrs that HAD TO use cooking oil for bar oil when cuttin timber in different cities watersheds. Like Seattle, Portland ect . It's not like I came up with the idea originally. I asked several of them over different times , how it worked . They all said basically the same thing. It works .

At work we had to use food grade hydraulic oil in all construction equipment used at the Poland Springs bottling plant expansion. They had the loggers use cooking oil in their saws as well. Each piece of equipment was cleaned multiple times, the hydraulic system flushed, and swapped over to food grade hydraulic fluid.
It was funny to see each piece of equipment parked on a diaper of adsorbent pads each night. Fueling was its own nightmare as well. They were so worried about diesel fuel and hydraulic fuel leaks would contaminate the groundwater supply.

Was at TSC yesterday buying birdseed and bar oil still on sale at $6.99. Added a couple to the hoard. Shelf was almost empty at the store. DSCF0203.JPG

C’mon guys, don’t tempt/enable me to buy more bar oil. I should be set for many years.:smoke::rofl:

Wife and I were just in TSC to get me a 1.25g No Spill. My leaf blower isn’t liking RA @ 40/1, so I figure I’d get one to mix it @ 50. As we’re walking up to the counter I told her it was taking all I could to not grab a couple gallons of bar oil since it’s probably still cheap. :loco: :loco:  I resisted though.

That's what we're here for Jason! :makeitrain"

How many gallons do you have on hand now? With the two I got yesterday I'm up to roughly nine which is a record. I guess after paying $15 a couple years ago, $7 is a bargain.

You might be a bar oil hoarder if.......

.....you have more gallons of bar oil than cords of wood!

I wonder what the rough ratio of a gallon of bar oil to a cord of bucked wood is? I’ve never really given it much thought or paid much attention.
