I’m planning on not selling too much longer TBH. It’s a lot to keep up with on top of regular life stuff. For me the business pressure side of it sucked the joy right out of the process
Second and final load of the day. The customer was in need of another pallet and luckily I have an abundance of these:
The same thing happens to me. There's not a huge demand for firewood around here, but I used to sell some a few years back, until it became a headache. I ran into the same thing when I dabbled in doing some machine work for folks. I enjoy both things, but doing them as side businesses made them not as enjoyable.
Mixed hardwood half cord load delivered to a long time regular. Mostly sugar & Norway maple, cherry with some Chinese chestnut and white walnut. Stacked in her garage.
A load from yesterday, and one from today. Honey locust, with a few pieces of maybe ash in the second picture.
Amd so it begins...again. Three loads since Friday, and one more load minimum before I stop for the year. I found a few hidey holes where it's a bit difficult to get at, so those sticks should still be standing there in spring.
Thank you, they were as much as me or the truck could handle! Also, I'm really bad (horrible in fact) at estimating how much trees or lengths I need to fell to fill a truck. Always seems to be "just one more" lol. Species is just plain Jane firekill pine, with the odd larch/tamarack in the mix. BTW, I notice you're not exactly scared to load a truck up either
So far, so good! I always wrap my load and tighten with a chain binder, which is a pain in the butt for loading the bottom row, but she rides good. It's amazing how tight you can get the chain with a 2-3 foot bar on the end of the binder. She ain't shifting or moving unless I park it upside down in the ditch.
