seems like a decent deal, but I’m not well versed in Husqvarna. All in know is the 550xp is comparable to a Stihl 261. What are your thoughts FHC.

Mki carb can be cantankerous. I see this one's been worked over. It's probably pretty loud and cuts fast.

Seems like a good deal from what we see. Both Sugi bars included? Those things last forever!

Is the MkI not auto tuned?

yes both bars are included. The bar on the saw is 20”, not sure how long the other bar is.

Yes, it is autotuned. The early versions had issues with off idle bog and hot starts. I put the AT12 version of the carb/autotune on mine.

Its still a carburetor with autotune. The carb has an electronic solenoid built in that adjusts the air to fuel ratio. Mark 1 saws has hot starting issues from what I understand.

To me a 20 inch bar on a saw of that size is a bit much. Sure if you want a longer bar for limbing and such then it would be fine but cutting 20 inch logs might be pushing it.

If it's been well ported it should nicely pull a 20. I had tried a 3/8 20" combo with my stocker and wasn't thrilled with performance.

That is a lot of chain for a "stock" saw in that CC range no matter who the Mfg. is.
Something like that is much happier with a .325 chain in the 16-18 inch range.

Not saying it doesn't work but it is a bit much.

    My favorite stock saw!

Mark I did have the off idle bog issue that was fixed by the change to the AT-12 carb. I think it was the AT-7 that had the issue. Something to look for

20” on that saw should be no problem at all. If you feel it’s “too much”, simply run your depth gauges a bit higher than normal to keep the revs up. My ported 50cc will pull aggressive chain on a 20 with authority.
Again, seems like a decent deal to me. I’m more a fan of the 3 series because of the manual tune carbs and no need for software/computers to diagram issue. Personal preference.

I was finding limits, pressed on by the 3/8 fan crowd. It wears 18 and 16 once in a while.

I’m pretty sure I would be on that like a duck on a grasshopper. The 2 sugi bars really make the deal. Even if you don’t run them on that saw, you could put them on one of your others. You do have other saws? Right?

550 mark 1 is a good little saw, they have been known to have qwerks though, fuel vapor lock upon refueling, stumble off idle, and finicky hot restarts.

the stumble and hot start issues can be fixed, by updating the carb, vapor lock upon refueling doesnt happen everytime i refuel my 545 mark 1.

I own and use heavily a 545 mark 1 and a 550 xpg marks 2, the 545 is a little bit lighter and I use it alot and its held up for almost 10 years now.

parts support is starting to fall off with husqvarna, but other than that I would buy the saw with those bars for $400 in a split second.

Oh… I have other saws, but they are all Stihls! Pretty sure the Sugi bars won’t work on my Stihl saws.
