    The bosses kid, (Family farm)
Bought a property right by the farm and tore down the old house and is going to be braking ground on his new house very soon.

We have been working on and off for probably a year now getting the woods around his house cleaned up.

The majority of the wood I have just been dropping and the retired neighbor who works for them and burns wood has been taking it.

Did The last big round of dropping right around were the house will go and along with that was 2 big white oaks and 1/2 (split in a wind storm)

All the big pines, some smaller maples and elms went in his pile but I was eyeing up the one oak and said I would take that one, and also got the 1/2.

Started working it up the other day but took the first load out today.

Don't have any good photos from when I dropped it as there was the boss was right there. But got some today.

The brush pile and can see the big stack of pine off to the side.

And on the plus side right behind the neighbor's tractor there is his 30 ton wood splitter with a log lift and he stopped me the other day and said I could use his tractor to move rounds over and use his log splitter.

Got the rest of the limb wood loaded up tonight that doesn't need split, unfortunately forgot to snap a photo.
Going to be a little brake for a couple days, we have a 5 day trail ride/ camping trip we leave for tomorrow. But be back at it strong next week!

Got back from vacation on Sunday, unfortunately one of the things that didn't go right was I very unwillingly picked up a cold 2 days into vacation and after work Monday my head was pounding so I didn't get anything done yesterday.

Feeling better today and some drugs and I got back at it.

Man it's been forever since I have used a splitter and have never used one with a log lift, so nice.

Plus the use of the loader and I got a good size load in about 45 minutes.

Mostly Bucked up the one whole tree, I cut it in to 3 round chunks, cut 2 rounds 70% through then cut the 3rd one all the way so I can pick it up with the forks and carry 3 rounds at a time and just finish the little bit left right by the splitter.

Already dropped a load by the splitter before i took a photo,

It is a awesome set up, I was really debating on if I was going to take him up on his offer to use it. But man it is definitely going to speed things up, should be able to get everything split and home this week. Debating on leaving him a gift card or cash. Definitely going to have to leave something to show my appreciation!

    Next load!

Only split up 5 rounds on this load, they are definitely gaining in size quickly.

I am into the straight trunk, before any limbs, figured it would start splitting easyer, now I know white oak is very stringy, and this is a burr oak and that is probably the worst. But I have always still split it by hand.

But this tree has got to be the worst I have dealt with in a long time and am very glad for the splitter as even that is having to cut through all the fibers.

Yep, can be a bit stringy, but that's some great wood

Oh completely agree, the effort is well worth the reward.

Nice. I keep a broad faced hatchet by my splitter for the stringy stuff. Used to have a heavy cleaver that was even better but it disappeared somehow.

Yikes. I've had it be stringy WO before but never to that level. Great splitter, makes me wish I had a push through. This'll be some awesome firewood when it's ready Randy. Nice score.

I keep a hatchet handy by the hydro. I forgot it was sitting on the rail and the first cycle yesterday and wrecked the grip. :emb: My hand tools go MIA from time to time. Lost a tape measure recently.
