Answered a marketplace ad for free pine. Guy said he’s use his loader. This is a 2 cord load. There’s 3 more cords left. 15 minutes from home. We had this loaded up in 45 minutes.

Haha no BL, just pine. Yeah it will be a little messy splitting the white pine but it will make great campfire wood.

I'm getting more and more outdoor burners looking to save a little money. I only take pine when it's free and cut up or the logs are delivered so it makes it well worth it.

Now Yoop; I have traveled out west and quite frankly if they didn’t burn pine or buffalo chips they would freeze to death. IFF you find trees 90+ percent are some type of fir.

Most know softwood less heat per load so want higher BTU woods.

How do you store pine Joe? In totes or windrows?

I have been storing it in totes so I can keep it out of the weather. One thing I have noticed is pine doesn't do well in the elements. I also haven't had a whole lot historically but that is starting to change so I may need to change things up.

If easy, free and have buyers, why not? I mean what percentage of EWP is actually used for firewood?

Does Robbie still have his wood stand? Does he help you at all?

Yes he still has his stand and still does well with it. He's 14 now and works for me splitting and loading when he has time.

The Westerner in me remembers that video of the cabin burner who took on some of that freshly 'seasoned' pine and proved to the world that we can burn anything, especially in a cold and wet snowstorm while using some really rudimentary fan. LOL. I've seen people get less second hand smoke at a bar in the early 90's.

    Never burned chit though. ;)

I finished grabbing the pine this today. I had some extra time so I finally got over to another guys house who reached out a while ago about having pine and oak. The ground picture is after I dumped today’s load and the second pic is a fully loaded truck of pine from the second place today. This stuff was cut a long time ago and is ready to split and sell to campers.

I cut & split about a 1/2 cord of pine in early May. It was dead standing stuff. I split open three bigger chunks from the middle of the heap. It ranged from 12.2%-14.6%. We will be burning that once we start the woodstove.
