Combines have heated/AC cabs these days...;) :D
Corn is running a bit late here...got planted late though too...beans remain to be seen yet...I'm guessing they might go a bit early?

True that most do have heated cabs but not all. Corn is drying fast but too early for picking.

If the combining of beans is on, so is the migration of Asian beetles to homes in the area. Around here, those beetles love soybean fields.

And so are the stink bugs. Man, a lot of them showed up in the last couple days. We used to just occasionally see one but now they really are a pest. Asian beetles usually show up in early October here.

Went over to the parents this morning and cut down these stems I topped early summer before he had the barn roof reshingled. The bigger ones were oaks. One white and one pin. Couple small cherry stems and 2-3 small, branch sized sasafrass. Got it all sized up and stacked.

Then went for a walk in my woods. Storms were rolling by to the north and it's supposed to rain overnight so there was some wildlife movement.

I kicked up a couple deer and after checking me out for awhile they blew a few times and trotted off not too fast.

Then I saw a grey squirrel carrying a black baby. First saw them at the base of a smaller, 12"+ beech tree. She was tucking it up under her in the front. Almost looked like it was "loaded" backwards and upside-down under there. She could pretty much run with it though. I watched her run down the hill and across a 80ft+ downed tree to a standing hickory. She then climbed up into the leaf canopy where I could see anymore.

I wandered down the hill, 90° to where the squirrel went, when I picked up on several racoons. There were 4 total. Just wandering through the downed trees and brush. They were basically headed right for me. So I got out my phone and as I was videoing them, they were winding me. That's why their noses are up. They then took off in the direction they came.

Hard to tell in this picture but there are several "deer highways" out there that are pretty noticable because of how dry it's been. I should probably just trim a bit and then ride the dirt bike on them a bit to turn em into some nice single track.

Yes any time to ride a motorcycle is a great one.

All this talk about low grass mowing events this summer were totally different than here. The grass never stopped growing here. The weekly mowing here wasn't quite enough at times and super long grass and dull blades made for some not so great mowings, but it was better than nothing.
I'll need to mow again early next week.

Heading out to golf with a good friend. 2 catpenters from the union will round out our 4 some. Then cut grass later for Kathy's uncle. Have a great day everyone.
