Ah the great pyramid of firewood! I pity the person that picks a bundle off the bottom.

I was thinking this also...someone's gonna break a toe or two. I am sure Brad's insurance will cover it though! LOL

Now that would be a neat trick!

I'm afraid the 5yr+ red oak is already allocated.

This has come up before. Here's the latest theft at the roadside stand. Customer took 2 mini bundles. Sign says 3/$10 THIS ROW ONLY. They also took a kindling bundle. Sign says $10 each THIS ROW ONLY. Paid $10 cash. Yes, I'm out about $7. It won't break me. No I'm not contacting the police. I did post it on Facebook. Thinking about putting it out in local buy/sell/trade groups. It's just the principle of the issue. [IMG]

That sucks, I am guessing they just misunderstood the sign. Took 3 bundles, just missed the kindling was a separate price (Maybe?)

That was my guess too. Still frustrating.

C'mon Gary, you haven't lived until you play wood bundle Jenga.

He must've moved the 2x6 sleepers as its usually long rows next to the washer fluid display.

Im always amazed how dry the remnant bundles are compared to the ones I'm delivering. This location is on the South side so it gets plenty of sun exposure.

Possible but HIGHLY unlikely. Both bundles are separated by an unrelated item between them so it's hard to think they're the same item (and they don't look alike). The signs are VERY explicit (marked both above and directly behind each item) because I've dealt with this before. I may be a skeptic but I feel like too many people are entitled these days and basically just do what they want. I wasn't raised like that.

I definitely haven't lived but this could make a great pay per view idea!

Did they pay cash? Maybe didn't have change? If I didn't have exact I'd either buy more to make exact or come back with the correct amount.

I agree on the entitled thing though. If they understood what went on behind the scenes they'd pay more.
Ive said that to BL customers. "if you saw what I went through to get this, I should get more."

Ive accidentally done that with a stack of splits. I bumoed it and some splits easily slid out and the stack stayed. Being me I kept going and made a big hole in the stack. I have a old thread here somewhere I'll dig up.

If they didn't have change, why take more than they could afford with the cash they had? That's what ticks me off. And my number is all over the stand so they could call or text for options.

I finally had time this morning to finish emptying the trailer. I ended up using a tow strap and my gator and even the largest chunks came out fairly easily. Overall it worked quite well.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The next order of business for the day was to go to my neighbors and work on a dead ash tree that was down. I had already cleaned up about 10 ft of it that had fallen across a trail. I got about 80% of what was left when my chain ended up hitting a concrete block that was half buried underneath part of the log. I wasn't expecting to find that in the woods and that's when I quit for the day.[IMG][IMG]

My last chore was to take the empty trailer back to my log supplier. I planned to just drop it off and maybe throw a few pieces in the bed of my truck so I wouldn't come home empty. He happened to be there and asked if I wanted him to load the trailer. Well, why not? I told him I didn't expect him to do that today but if he had the time I would take the wood so he loaded up.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

How are sales going these days Gary? My smoker sales have stopped. Nothing for a couple weekends now. New regular customer (bought from me last year first time) turned into a ghost after committing to buy a half cord of mulberry. I had already loaded it too! Needless to say I WASNT happy. I need to have some sort of system in place to confirm new orders so this doesn't happen. Im thinking a phone call before I load to confirm even though this isn't a guarantee.

I know you use Venmo? Can a customer retract their payment once it goes through? Id rather not use electronic money, but if this will eliminate the problem then I may consider it.

I had another guy answer the same FBM listing looking for small mulberry logs to make bows (bow & arrow) out of. Coincidentally I had just scored some from the dump and he wants to buy them. Lives out of state too. He supposedly is coming next weekend. Not sure what to charge and I'm not holding my breath.

Delivered 30 bundles to my original regular last week. Called his son who runs another store out of town and he needs some. Going out this week. Seems Fall outdoor burning season has started. DSCF0137.JPG

I'll do a weekly sales recap tomorrow. It's been a really strong week at the roadside stand. I also have a face cord delivery today (which is very rare for me).

I use Venmo and Cash App. I've been very happy with both. I've never had anyone take money back so I don't know how that works. You can request money so you might do that and give someone a deadline to pay before you load and go on the delivery. If you don't get the money, move on to the next customer.

I made a delivery today to one of my regulars. It was a beautiful day on the lake. The package was 1/3 cord, consisting of silver and sugar maple, ash, white oak, honey locust, black walnut and a few other species I don't remember. I also provided 2 bundles of kindling.
