I live on the border. If I drive north I am in Minnesota before I hit the next town. If you call around to the city halls of local towns you may be surprised at the tree/brush dumps you find. The one I came across up there today is the 5th one I know of.
Looks like a pretty good estimate to me. That first pic has every bit of 3/4 of a pickup load. PS I may have to look into this tree dump thing.
+1, closest city to me has one. They grind it into mulch and use it on city property and sell it. I don't know if you can go in and grab it for firewood.
I'd be on that like white on rice...lol Mulberry is 1 of my favs.normally get a load or so every year.Nothing wrong with Black Walnut tops/branches & milling scrap either...
Would have been a little less than a half load if I hadn't salvaged everything of the brush that old one chain gave up on.
We have a landfill here that lets people bring trees and brush to dump for free. But you better not get caught trying to take any wood home with you -- you'll be yelled at if they see you snooping. A couple times a year they bring in a tub grinder and chip the whole pile.
We throw it all in dumpsters and they haul off. U better not take anything either. And no I don't live in the city this is out in the country???
That's the problem -- the BTU's -- they sell the chips go to the biomass boilers that are springing up around here.
Well cause I live in the country no to many folks haul logs to the dump, most either roll them to the woods or burn in oil or find Someone who burns wood.
Yea either ends up as mulch or sold as boiler fuel. I have a logger that got a fuelwood chipper a yr ago. All the in woods debris and unmerchantable wood gets chipped into vans and hauled off and sold for boiler fuel.
